Overall Aim:
Technologies for more natural interactions for communicating needs of people with
neurological conditions and disorders as well as cognitive disabilities and their careers.
Scenario:
Advanced usability and accessibility of many software and devices to the benefits of all
people, especially for those with different functional abilities.
Technology advancement in instant communication and increased ability to train the brain
and with less support.
Obstacles:
High costs, low Interoperability, low usability, no critical mass: inclusion and accessibility as
niche

AAL Challenge Prize – background
Purpose
• To stimulate innovations in an area where there is a need which is not being addressed by the market.
• The instrument aims to reach new target groups, and promote solutions closer to market.
• It awards whoever can first and most effectively meet a defined challenge.
Format
An open, longer-running competition, to find solutions to a defined challenge.
Solutions can be submitted independent of physical location.
Open to all types of solutions involving ICT.
