Jabberwacky: Overview Been in Development for 20 years, on the web
for 10 years. Initial 20,000 entries in 1998. Now has 2.6
million responses (10 + million conversations) Written in 4D Unlike any artificial life model (i.e. no neural
networks, no fuzzy logic type system, not rule-bound or finite, etc.)
Heuristics based technology.

Just a Database – no hard coded rules, not pre-programmed.
Relies entirely on context and feedback. Currently knows 40 different languages. Meant only for chatting – not programmed to
do anything ‘useful’ (with some exceptions). Can express emotions!!! Lets chatter fix errors.

recognition system).

Up to 2000 simultaneous chats. Types what it says, makes mistakes. He’s rude. Won two most recent Leobner Prizes in
Britain.

Drawbacks
Does not have a mind of it’s own. Cannot carry out arguments.
May accuse chatter of being a bot.
