Imphal Times Supplementary issue Page 3 DIPR Imphal, July 5, The 12th State Level Pineapple Festival cum Sellers and Buyers Meet and Youth Festival, 2019 kicked off from Yesterday at the Thambalnu Market Complex, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East district. The festival is organised by the Development Organisation Andro Kendra (DOAK) in collaboration with Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department from 4th to 7th July, 2019 under the aegis of Eastern Border Area Development Authority (EBADA) under the sponsorship of North Eastern Council (NEC). Addressing the media persons, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar said that the festival has been successfully organised since 2007 with the guidance and blessings of the elders of the Andro Assembly Constituency. He also credited the hard work of the DOAK members, officials of the State Government, pineapple growers of the area and people of the constituency for the success of the festival. He hoped that with the commencement of the festival, the State will receive 12 th State level Pineapple festival cum sellers and buyers meet and youth festival, 2019 kicks off sufficient rainfall thus ending the woes of the farmers. Stating that the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department is working hard to increase the income of the farmers, he said that another batch of horticulture produces will be airlifted outside the State soon. Th. Shyamkumar also stressed on the need to promote and preserve the age old traditional culture of Andro which is also an objective for organising the festival. He called upon people of the State to encourage and motivate the farmers by buying their produces and focus on consumption of organic produces. Shri Heikham Dingo Singh, Chairman Manipur Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board and MLA Sekmai, spoke in length on the adverse effects of the climate change in the State. He stressed on the importance of planting and preserving the trees to combat the issue of the climate change faced in the present day. Speaking on the festival he said it gives a platform to the pineapple growers to increase their income. 185 stalls, including 115 pineapple stalls are displaying various pineapples and other products during the festival. Visitors can also enjoy the pineapple juice produced in the two pineapple processing units at the Andro A/C. Entertainment programmes are also the highlights of the evening function. The inaugural function of the festival was also attended by Shri K. Robindro Singh, Deputy Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly and MLA Mayang Imphal; Shri JC Ramthanga, Principal Secretary, Horticulture and Soil Conservation; Smt. Th. Babita Devi, Social Activist, Patron Member DOAK; officials of the various departments, local residents among others. This is the 1 st time ever that the Department has received approval for cluster projects in the State from Ministry of MSME. Officials said, neighbouring areas of Gurgaon, Faridabad and Noida received good rainfall and conditions are favourable for the monsoon to make an onset in the national capital in the next 48 hours. Agency New Delhi July 5, The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) has said it will deliver on July 17 its verdict in the case relating to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is on death row in Pakistan. The ICJ, in a statement, said a public sitting will take place at 6:30 PM Indian Agency New Delhi July 5, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed to newly elected Members of Parliament to overcome their political differences and contribute to the making of New India through their effective participation in discussions in the House. The weather department predicts heavy rains in the state till Saturday. In Himachal Pradesh, the maximum temperature across Standard Time on 17th July at the Peace Palace in The Hague. Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, the President of the Court, will read out the verdict. Jadhav, a retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017. India approached the ICJ in May 2017 against Pakistan for denying consular access to Jadhav. India had also challenged the trial by the military court of Pakistan against Jadhav. On 18th May, 2017, the ICJ had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case. The court held a four-day public hearing in the case in February during which both India and Pakistan submitted their detailed pleas and responses. all the districts dropped by 5- 6 notches as several parts were lashed by rain in the last 24 hours. Parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh also received showers. The MeT office warned of heavy rainfall at a few places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh. It also warned of heavy rainfall in parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and west Uttar Pradesh. Parts of Rajasthan also received light to moderate rainfall.
