The tour begins with the guide meeting participants at their hotel*. When all are “on-board” we drive out of Reykjavík and to the Western part of Iceland - Borgarfjördur.

Our first stop of the day is at Deildartunguhver,a geothermal spring is characterized by a very high flow rate for a hot spring (180 liters/second) and water emerges at 97 °C.

It is the highest-flow hot spring in Europe.

Have you ever cooked an egg in a hot spring? No?

Now is your chance! We will serve the cooked eggs on geothermal cooked rye bread with butter and herring. Yummy.

And the journey continues as we figure our way along the massive lava field until we arrive to a is a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 meters out of the lava field, This lava field flowed from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the glacier Lang-jökull.

The waterfalls pour into the Hvítá River from ledges of less porous rock in the lava. Literally, a stone’s throw upstream from Hraunfossar, there is another waterfall called Barnafoss. Its name, the water-fall of the children, comes from an accident, which is said to have taken place here in former times. There was a natural bridge over the waterfall and two children from a nearby farm fell to their deaths crossing the river on the bridge. Afterwards, the grief-struck mother had the bridge destroyed.

We stop at Hotel Husafell for a nice lunch before we continue to Langjökull glacier - where the ad-venture of the day awaits us.

A unique visit into one of the world’s great wildernesses, perhaps the closest thing to travelling back in time to the Ice Age! We will bear witness to the consequences of global warming, see with your own eyes what is happening.

An experienced English-speaking guide will lead the way the whole time to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest.

When we have explored the Ice Cave we head back to Reykjavík.Just as we are about to leave the Borgarfjörður area we have one more stop:

All of these incredible attractions with in 2 hours reach from Reykjavík. And on top of that we travel on monster trucks up to the second larges glacier Langjökull to take a snowmobile ride.

Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a remarkable historical and geological site, which is located by Lake Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth’s tectonic plates. Furthermore, in this area the oldest form of parliament had met since 930.

Onwards we head to the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring where you discover spouting springs of various formations and appearances. Here you’ll find also Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area, spouting up to 25-30 meters.

Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and go for a snowmo-biling tour on Langjökul (or Langjökull area), Iceland’s second largest glacier - an exhilarating one-hour tour across the endless white snowfields will not leave you un-touched.

Dependnig on the season and the level of snow, we have to drive shorter/ longer to the snowmo-biles, aso the timing of the day largely depends on conditions on the glacier.

On our return back to Reykjavik we stop by Gullfoss waterfall (=the Golden Waterfall) where you will see thousands of tons of icy glacier water thunder majestically down in double falls into a deep can-yon.

The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the whole country. In addition to its characteristic Snæfellsjökull glacier (which is where the journey to the cen-ter of the earth begins – according to Jules Verne), you will find white and black sandy beaches, bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, incredibly rich trout lakes and salmon rivers, lush valleys, and unique harbours in charming fishing villages.

The guide meets participants at their hotel*. We head of west, through Mosfellsbær town and on-wards to Borgarnes, and on through the Mýrar district, with view of the extinct volcanic crater Eld-borg.We will visit Arnarstapi where those who are interested can take a 45 minute walk to Hellnar, where the bus will await. The path takes us along the sea cliffs and strange hole formations which reach to the sea with spectacular columnar rock formations where seabirds nest. Others can ride the bus to Hellnar to explore the area from there.

The next stop is Vatnshellir or Water Cave. This is a 8000 years old lava tube cave located in Snæfellsjökull National Park, which formed during a volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. This cave is one of the most easily accessible cave in Iceland; however, participants need to be reasonably fit to participate. All caving gear is included but participants need sturdy shoes to be able to participate.
