1 cutFrom the background fabric:
• (2) 28" squares. Fold (1) 28"
square in half, then in half
again to create a 14" square.
Draw a curve along the unfold-
ed edge of the 14" square as
shown. Cut along the marked
line, then unfold to form a cir-
cle. Repeat with the other 28"
square. 1A
• (4) 18" squares to use as the
back of the napkins
From the print fabric:
• (4) 18" squares to use as the
front of the napkins
From the 1/4 yard solid fabric:
• Cut (1) 4½" x width of fabric
strip. Adhere that entire strip
of fabric to the fusible interfac-
ing using dry heat. Using the
MSQC Small Simple Wedge
template, cut (11) ice cream
cones from the strip, rotating
the template after each cut. 1B
From the (22) 5" squares:
• For the large ice cream scoops,
adhere 11 of the 5" squares to
the fusible interfacing. Trace
the included template onto

• For the small ice cream scoops,
cut 11 of the 5" squares to 2½"
x 5" rectangles and adhere to
the fusible interfacing. Trace
the included template onto
each of the 2½" x 5" rectangles
and cut out.
2 arrange and sewLay out the top piece of your table
topper. Set a dinner plate/bowl
in the center of the table topper.
We used a dinner plate that is 11"
in diameter. Arrange the cones by
spacing them out evenly around
the plate/bowl. When happy with
the arrangement, fuse the cones
into place and blanket stitch along
the 2 sides of each cone. There is
no need to stitch along the top of
the cone, as it will be covered up.
2A
Place a small ice cream scoop on
each cone, overlapping the cone
just a bit. Fuse the scoops into
place and blanket stitch along
both sides and the bottom of each
scoop. There is no need to stitch
along the top of the scoop, as it
will be covered up. 2B

Using the same method, place a
large ice cream scoop on top of
each small ice cream scoop. Fuse
into place and blanket stitch all the
way around the scoop. 2C
Layer the topper with backing and
batting and quilt.
When the quilting is finished, trim
the excess batting and backing
away and bind using bias binding.
3 bias bindingCut a 16" square piece of fabric.
Place a pin at the center point on
both the right and left sides of the
square. Cut the square from corner
to corner once on the diagonal. 3A
Place the two triangles together
with right sides facing. Match up
the two pins and sew the two piec-
es together along the same edge
as the pins are placed. 3B

Gently press the seam open. Use a
quilter’s ruler and a pencil to mark
lines 2½" apart. 3C
Bring the top and bottom pieces
of the fabric together to make a
tube. Match up one side of the
fabric with the first drawn line of
the other side. Notice that the tube
is “offset”. Sew the top and bottom
of the tube together and press
the seam open. It may feel a little
awkward but it works like a charm.
3D 3E
Use a pair of scissors and start
cutting at the offset (uneven) end
of the tube on the drawn line. Cut
through one layer until you have
cut the entire tube apart. You will
end up with one long continuous
strip of binding. 3F
After you have finished cutting
along the lines, begin at one end
and fold the strip in half with the
wrong sides facing. Press the fold
in along the entire strip, again be-
ing very careful not to stretch it or
pull it out of shape. 3G

ICE CREAM NAPKINS
1 cut From the background fabric:
• (4) 18" squares
From the print fabric:
• (4) 18" squares
2 sew Lay a print square on top of a
background square, with right
sides together. Sew around all 4
sides, leaving a 3" opening for
turning. Turn right side out and
press. Blanket stitch all the way
around the napkin for a nice fin-
ished edge. Repeat this process for
the other 3 napkins.
