Notes from Pastors
Summer is off and running…or was that off and raining? If rain
makes grain, then we should have an abundance come harvest
time. Summer is just such a great time to be out and about. I
pray that you will be able to spend some time “out and about” relaxing
and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. Genesis 1:31a New Living Transla-
tion says, “Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was
excellent in every way…” It is really neat to study creation and continue to
discover just how excellent (and amazing) it really is. God’s Word tells us
that by just looking at the creation it speaks to a Creator. All of this beauty
and how complex it really is testifies to the fact that it could not have all
just “happened.” God definitely had his creative powers at work in this
place we call home. Romans 1:20 NLT, “From the time the world was
created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They
can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature.
So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.” Many people
can truly experience God in nature. I know a few and I like to think that I
am also one of them. God speaks to me in the power of a thunderstorm, the
beauty of a sunrise or sunset, the persistence of a small ant, the grace of the
eagle, the tenacity of the hawk, the peskiness of the mosquito, the loyalty of
a dog, you can truly just go on and on. So let me encourage you to spend
some time “out and about” this summer enjoying God’s invisible qualities
– his eternal power and divine nature. I certainly plan too. I just love it!!
Send me your favorite “creation picture” that you found some enjoyment in
and perhaps we can put them together for the next issue of the quarterly
newsletter. Have a great summer!
Blessings,
Pastor Rob

Fellowship. Get ready for MOPS
2010-2011 at Rocklane Christian Church. MOPS is an international organization designed for women with young children. The program realizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are founda-tional and offer a unique challenge for mothers. MOPS will offer support,
resources and relationships
to help moms be the very
best moms they can be. We
will be meeting the second
and fourth Thursdays of the
month starting in September
from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at
the church. Childcare
July...
In July we will have “Christmas in July.”
We will be handing out decorated jars to
individuals and families who want to
participate in the “Christmas Jar”
program. This is a simple program to
allow us to give a gift in secret. We want
you to use these jars to put all your
extra change in from July through Dec.
15th. In December we want each jar to
be given in secret to someone you decide
is in need this year. It is totally between
you, your family and God. The identity
of the recipient or giver should never be
revealed. Giving a gift that is a secret
between you and God will be great!
There would be no Mops without MOPPET Volunteers
If you are available from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. on a regular or fill-in basis,
please contact Melissa Suttles at 317-535-5261 for more details.

A TRIBUTE TO YOU-
Ever wonder what it takes
to put on a production like
Easter, Christmas, VBS or
the Jared Hall event? It
takes these people: pro-
duction consultant/ pro-
presenter/audio technician
#1/audio tech #2/set
builder #1/media producer.
You get the idea... So much
of what happens at RCC is
made possible by people
who have decided to
sacrifice their time, energy,
passions, and priorities by
giving God the best that
they have.
There is a story in Mark
12:41-44 entitled “The
Widows Offering.” It’s
about a woman who gives all
that she has to God. When I
think about this passage I am
tempted to say things like,
“She knew that God would
take care of her.” or “She
knew that God would reward
her sacrifice ten fold.” But to
say this I would have to dis-
regard the part of the text that
says she was poor and a
widow. The text does not go
on to say that after giving her
two coins she was rewarded
with riches.
The story in Mark 12 is all
about sacrifice. Over the
past few weeks Pastor Rob
has been talking about not
robbing God of what belongs
to him which means giving
God ownership of your life
and everything in it. In the
past the church has put it
this way; “Sum Tertius” or
“I am third” coining the
phrase “God first-Others
second-Myself third.” So
many of you have embodied
this idea. For you it isn’t
about what you will get out
of it because so often what
you do is behind the scenes.
For you it has always been
about giving God the best
that you have simply be-
cause he is God and you
belong to him. Thank you
for all you do. You are a
difference maker!
“Christianity is not about religion. It’s about faith, about being forgiven.
It’s about finding joy and finding home.” - Bear Grylls
Please jot down some RCC memories
and drop them in the Heritage box at the
Welcome Center along with original
photos. These photos will be presented
in a slide show at the Harvest Dinner and
will be part of the Heritage album with
articles & memories included. All
photos will be returned (please label).

Shirley Kirkham or Marlene Welty if
you have questions.
Your contributions will be greatly appreciated.
August…
We still have Christmas on the brain. In
August we will start our Shoe Box gift
project. This year we are asking for
empty shoe boxes. We are also asking
that you bring items to fill the shoe
boxes (crayons, hard candy, toiletries,
new clothing etc.) We also need people
willing to donate the $7 it takes to mail
each box. We can use every kind of help
in getting gifts to those children who
would have none without you. Thank You
September…
We have a great retreat planned at
Camp Allendale again this year on
September 25th. Our theme is
“Dressed to Kill.” Come and hear how
the full armor of God is better than any
other clothing you could find. We will
begin with breakfast at 8 a.m. and end
about 4 p.m. Don’t miss out on the fun!
