Dear user

Welcome to Advance Steel for automatic creation of steel connections.

This manual outlines an overview of Advance Steel connections. The manual highlights more

than 300 connection types between different steel elements like beams, columns, bracings

and tubes cross in steel bridges or structural buildings. These connections are otherwise

stored/hidden in the software small dialog boxes.

Further on there are outlined five examples helping you to create step-by-step a

connections between beams and diagonals. With this, you can similarly create your own

connections among hundreds of configurations stored in Advance Steel. The connection

itself is automatically created in Advance Steel software for the selected elements and the

corresponding parameters in the dialog boxes. The manual will guide you to select thickness

of gusset plate, number of bolts, distances and so on.

In addition, the manual outlines the workflow between Revit, Advance Steel (AutoCAD) and

LUSAS (FEM). Meaning you can synchronize Revit and Advance Steel models. Once a

connection has been created in Revit, it can be exported to LUSAS (selected elements, DXF

format) for FEM analyse where it is needed. An example for that can be found at the end of

the manual.
