My favourite thing about my English

language course at EC was the great

teachers and very friendly staff.

I also thought the school had a great

location. If I were asked what my

favourite memory of my stay was,

it would be very difficult to choose

because I enjoyed my whole trip, but

one highlight may be all of the lovely

people I met during my time at EC.

General & Semi-Intensive EnglishWith a focus on fluency, the General and Semi-Intensive English courses allow

you to improve your English giving you a practical understanding of the language

and how to use it. You will focus on the 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and

listening. You will improve your level and maximise your ability to use English.

Real EnglishYou will experience how English is spoken and used in many situations. Lessons will provide you with practice in the use of grammar, vocabulary, idioms and pronunciation through the four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Improve your ‘thinking time’Your teachers will help you advance your ability to listen, understand and respond quickly and effectively in English.

Topic-based lessonsAll language skills and grammar taught in context will facilitate your understanding and help you apply everything you have learnt in a natural way. Your teacher will bring everyday topics into the classroom, stimulating interest and learning.

SupportYou will receive ongoing support, feedback and care from your teachers. Taught by at least two teachers, you will be exposed to different voices which will improve your listening and boost your vocabulary.

Creative and energetic classesRelaxed and informal classroom environments create a fun, inspiring atmosphere in which you will gain confidence, receive encouragement and be able to speak freely.

Authentic materialsIn addition to your text book, teachers use authentic supplementary resources taken from newspapers, videos, internet and CDs, which will show you how English is used in an everyday context.

Learn by doingTask-based lessons will encourage healthy interaction between students. You will enjoy this active participation in class, facilitating learning by doing, rather than being just a passive listener.

My teacher Chris was great. We did really interesting activities during our lessons such as making our own film and interviewing people at the market. It was good fun. I really enjoyed living in Cambridge as there were lots of sights and it is great that people ride around on bikes instead of using their cars.

Mini Group 20/30If you are highly motivated, have a short period of time to study and would like to

receive a greater level of individual attention, resulting in a faster rate of improvement,

the Mini Group course is ideal. Class sizes are small, allowing teachers to tailor the

course to the students’ developmental needs.

More individual attentionStudying in a class of just 6 students allows you to spend more time in direct contact with your teacher. Accordingly, you will find that your specific needs can be identified, monitored and met by your teacher, allowing more feedback, encouragement and help.

Flexible and personalDynamic teachers and small class sizes allow lessons to take a natural flow. Your course will cover thelanguage areas and skills that you need to focus on.

20 or 30 lessons per weekYou can choose to take either 20 or 30 lessons per week, depending on your requirements and your levelof English. Key areas are covered during 20 lessons per week. When you take 30 lessons per week, the additional time in class helps to consolidate what was learnt in the first two modules and providesfurther practice in all language skills.

Improve fluency quickly and effectivelyThe flexibility of our teachers combined with a small class size allow lessons to progress at a faster pace. You will improve your ‘thinking time’; this is the time it takes you to listen, comprehend and respond, which is essential for your fluency.

Smaller classes, more confidenceIn a smaller class you will see that the atmosphere is more relaxed and intimate. Feeling safe and secure helps with confidence and you will have more opportunity to interact with your classmates andyour teacher.

I chose to study in Brighton because of some suggestions from a friend of mine about the weather, people, lifestyle and sea. I love the sea! I chose an EC school because I had heard that the school takes care of the mix of people in each classroom and it is true. I’ve met people from Korea, Turkey, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy and more places.
