    Skarin. Widely used in the USA under licence.

    FoundationLaid in a conventional method upon a concrete pad /raft footing or upon a basement floor, with additionalseries of bolts (holding down bolts) cast into theconcrete slab.

    framework:a. Floor beam unit (1.3 m long / weight 3 1 lb).b. Wall frame unit (column) (2.6 m long / weight 79 lb).

    Floor beam & Wall frameBoth units are mass-produced at factory using 2mmthick sheet steel with corrosion resistance surfacetreatment.

    The floor beam units are perforated with 4 large holes

    to reduce weight & to provide position of services(sanitary, water supply, electricity, heating pipes,telephone etc).

    Special high tensile steel bolts are used for construction works

    The only tool required for the erection of the basicframeworks are 2 spanners.

    The vertical wall frame units are next erected, by fastening the lower ends with 2 bolts (high tensile bolts)to the flooring beam grid by using only spanner.

    A special junction plate and bolt is used to make thejunctions of 4 flooring beams. The joints betweenflooring beam are strong enough to permit a free span

    of 4 modules (1.3 m x 4 = 5 .2m).

    Where balconies or overhangs required, extra flooring beams are simply bolted to the existing flooring section,outside the main framework (cantilevered of 1 module)

    External C laddingConsist of panels of 2 widths - 1200mm & 100mm(together comprise the basic 1 3 00mm module).100mm panel is called the jointing panel.

    The cladding units are of numerous types depending

    upon the duty to be performed. Outer wall asbestoscement, fibre & timber boarding, plastic, glass, metalsheeting etc.

    External C ladding They are attached to the structural framework using locking device & sealed with soft rubber strips as

    weather protection strips.

    Once the outer wall is in place, insulations (mineral wool / rubber foam blankets) are inserted between

    cavity for both floor and wall.

    Internal cladding After the external cladding has been positioned, theinternal partition (also in modular dimensions of 1200mm & 100mm) of hardboard or blockboard (with

    wall paper) or gypsum board are placed into position.

    They are attached in position by means of espagnolettes which are operated through a hole at the bottom of thepanel. The hole is then covered by the skirting board.

    Internal cladding The surface is then finished with hardwood veneer,plastics, painted panels or simple gypsum panels with

    wall paper.

    Flooring The flooring units consist of plastic-coated, linoleum-covered, rubber-tiled or parquet-covered units.

    Simply attached to the top of the flooring beamframework using spring fasteners.

    Ceiling

    The same modular dimensions solid or perforated. Also can be incorporated with light fittings.

    Can be clipped into position without any further ado.

    Roofing The roofing units are of sandwich construction. Thebottom units (structure member) covered with thick

    layer of insulation & waterproof skin (metal, felt orplastic).

    Rooflight can be incorporated by replacing the unit

    with transparent glass-fibre.

    Window & D oor Windows and doors are made in modular dimensions,and attached easily to the vertical wall units.

    Special rubber strips are used as draught excludersbetween windows, doors & the structural units.

    Interior FittingsK itchen units, wardrobes etc are all made in modulardimensions. Can be fixed directly to the structuralmember by fixing devices.

    Electric wiring is laid in between the cladding units.

    Heating is hot air through special ceiling holes.

    Fitted cupboards are all made in modular dimensions and can be fixed to structuralmembers with special fixing devices. There is a choice of floor finishes including rubber tiles, plastic, linoleum and parquet.

    a. Flexibility easy modification to extend the house;simply required 100mm width of extension units, by bolting to the existing structure.

    b . Re-use - the entire structure can be dismantled andre-erect as the same building or a completely different

    type of building.

    Ground Floor First Floor

    The planning grid is 1.3 m x 1.3 m. To a completed house, further units can be easily beadded to cater foe expanding family. Buildings can be easily dismantled andreassembled elsewhere if required. The planning options are limitless.
