1. Selection of schools
As SRF Foundation is working in 45 schools of 19 villages under the banner ‘Mewat Rural
Education Program’ which is a PPP model in Nuh block of Haryana District, a total no of 18
govt. primary schools from 18 villages were jointly selected by SRF Foundation and SSA
representatives. The selection was based on the criteria fulfilling the requirement of IBM. During
the selection process SRFF had involved the community seeking their views and took
assurance for ownership of t+he program.

2. Signing of MOUs and Declaration
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed
between IBM, SRF Foundation and Department of
Elementary Education (DEE) on 2nd August 2010 for
Roll Out 1. The MOU was signed during the
Coordination Committee meeting held before the
Deputy Commissioner of Mewat and Director-
Elementary Education. The MOU was signed by
Manager- CC& CA on behalf of IBM, The Director from
SRFF and Dist. Elementary Education Officer-Mewat,
Haryana from Department of Elementary Education.
A declaration for no of YE Units allotted for each school is been taken with attestation from the
respective Head Master of each school.

3. Renovation of school buildings for IBMKidSmart centres
During the Coordination committee meets, after
presenting the selected location and estimates of 18
IBMKidSmart centres before the Deputy
Commissioner and Director Elementary Education it
was decided to go ahead for renovation sanctioning
1.8 lakh per centre. The interior design provided by
SRFF is implemented through SSA with transfer of
budgets to school individual accounts by the govt.
Regular follow up was done by SRFF to achieve the
renovation work as desired.

4. Appointment of Vidya Volunteers
As per the directions given by Department of Elementary Education, SRFF took care of
appointing the Vidya volunteers on behalf of government by recruiting 18 Vidya Volunteers
locally from the villages through a refinery process. With the facilitation from office of FC & PS -
School Education, Mewat Development Agency (MDA) took the responsibility of paying the
honorarium of Rs.4,000/- per month per Vidya volunteer for three years period of project.
5. Supply and Installation of Equipment
YEUs: During the Roll out 1 a total no of 130 Young Explorer Units
were supplied by IBM consisting of 130 little tikes Plastic furniture,
130 LCD flat Monitors, 130 CPUs and 130 UPS of 600AH.
Speakers: A total no of 130 Speakers sets were received and
installed.
Edmark Software: A total no of 250 Edmark CDs were supplied for
18 IBMKidSmart locations suitable to local language i.e. Hindi.
Photo Scanners cum printers: Photo scanners cum printers were
supplied and installed in 18 IBMKidSmart centres
** All the above equipment is installed by Technical Engineers from
IBM Info services - Gurgaon.
PEC Kits: A kit with set of plastic
games items and manuals useful
for physical education of children suitable to their primary
school curriculum has been
supplied to each centre. A total no
of 18 kits for 18 IBMKidSmart
centres were supplied as a
special incentive to the centres.
Online UPS & Batteries: A total no of 18 Microtek online UPS and
108 batteries were supplied to 18 IBMKidSmart centres. Each centre
comprised of 1 Online UPS and 6 batteries giving a 3hrs backup per
day at the time of power cuts.
Stabilizers: Based on the local power situation as there were high
and low fluctuations SRF Foundation so far had supplied and
installed 6 stabilizers to 6 IBMKidSmart centres to keep the
equipment run properly.

6. Inauguration of IBMKidSmart centres
SRF Foundation in collaboration with IBM, Government
of Haryana and Mewat Development Agency (MDA) in
the process of setting up eighteen IBM KidSmart centres
at eighteen village school locations in Nuh Block of
Mewat District of Haryana under Mewat Rural Education
Program (MREP) started the inaugurations of centres
initially at 3 village locations – Shahpur Nagli, Barka
Alimuddinpur and Feropurnamak on 8th April 2011.The
Deputy
Commissioner
(DC) Mr.Balraj Singh (IAS), District Education Officer
(DEO) Ms.Suman Nain and other govt. officials,
involving SRFF representatives, respective village
Sarpanches, Headmasters, Teachers, Villages Heads,
Parents and Children had inaugurated the centres.
Similarly with the
ownership of the
community at
Khorbasai village the MLA –Mr. Aftab Hussain had
inaugurated the IBMKidSmart centre on 3rd July 2011.
The event gave an oppurtunity for IBMers ODC
volunteers from Gurgaon to be part of the inauguration
on that day.
7. IBMKidSmart 1st phase Supervisors Training
The 1st phase Supervisors training for one day was conducted to 4 SRF Foundation field
coordinators, 2 Anganwadi Supervisors and 2 Additional Block Resource Coordinators of SSA
on 7th September 2011. The training was conducted by Mr.A.Rakesh- master trainer from SRF
Foundation.
The content covered during the training was -- Orientation on the project objectives, goals,
partners, ELC model, Project major steps, Detailed program process, Methodology,
Technology & Reading corners, Exploring the Edmark software, Sharing of experiences of
Andhra Pradesh, Philosophy, creation of print rich environment, Visits, monitoring and
evaluation, Characteristics of a good coordinators / supervisor, documentation and reporting,
technical guidance and maintenance.
The overall feedback of the participants was very positive with proper understanding of the
process of the project and its management. It was also demanded to extend the no of training
days for the 2nd phase.

8. Capacity Building of Government Teachers, Vidya Volunteers
and Anganwadi Instructors
As part of building the capacity of teachers, SRF Foundation had conducted 3 different trainings
in the academic year 2010-11. The capacity building was targeted and in process for 18 Vidya
Volunteers & 9 Bridge School facilitators of SRF Foundation, 90 govt. primary school teachers,
35 anganwadi workers. The details of each training program are herewith attached.

9. Jashn –E- Taleem 2011, Summer Camp program
Under the title Jashn-e-taleem, a special summer camp was conducted for 36 days from 25th
May to 30th June 2011 in 18 IBMKidSmart centres of 18 villages of Nuh. The objective of the
summer camp was to provide multiple learning opportunities for all the children in the village.

10. Celebration of IBM Centennial Event
On 15th June 2011, with the invitation of IBMers, SRF Foundation attended the IBM Centennial
event with two teachers and 40 students of two IBMKidSmart schools from Mewat district. The
event was organized at two IBM locations spread in Gurgaon namely - Unitech Cyber Park and
Silokera - giving urban and corporate exposure for the children. The detail report of the
participation is given as attachment.

11. Challenges faced during the year 2010-11
Centralized responsibility vested with one JE delayed the process of renovation of
building.
Illegal power connections in few schools.
Exploration of power back up solutions based on the local situations
During the training, dealing with the 1/3rd of teachers who are not punctual, habituated to
waste time in training programs, have negative attitudes and uninterested teachers
impacted with irresponsibility’s.
Operationalization of 3 corners simultaneously by the vidya volunteers.
Engage govt. teachers to IBMKidSmart on regular basis as per time table.
12. Outcome of the year 2010-11
The entire 18 IBMKidSmart center’s renovations completed and are under operational
with minor works pending.
Good maintenance of ELCs seen and equipment is seen.
The set up started impacting on the increase in enrollment. Of which 6 schools of 6
villages achieved 100% enrollment.
The set up started impacting in up gradation of school infrastructure through the
differentiation of existing classrooms.
The exposure of the Centre in their community during the summer camp has propagated
the positive change seen in the govt. schools and started engaging girl children more
towards school.
The Vidya volunteers became the key persons in the school and community for the
engagement and involvement of the local people and children.
The trainings triggered the teachers to make shift of the current situation of schools to a
better situation.
A total no of 9988 students from Anganwadi to class 5 are engaged to IBMKidSmart
from 18 locations of 18 villages.
The enhancement of learning and skills in VVs had shown a tremendous positive shift in
the work output.
The 3 corners started operating simultaneously.
13. Visitors
1. On Thursday 27 January 2011, Chairman of SRF
Foundation Mr Arun Bharat Ram accompanied by
Dr.Suresh Reddy Director SRFF visited IBMKidSmart
schools of Rewasan, Ghasera, Salambha, and SP
Nagli and Interacted with teachers and students.

2. On 23rd February 2011, Ms.Carol - British Sports
Authority UK, Mrs.Mona shipli – British Council,
Mrs.Meera Balachandran from Director - EQFI
Foundation and Mrs. Suman Sachdeva- CARE INDIA
accompanied by Dr.Y.Suresh Reddy- Director SRFF
had visited S.P.Nagli IBMKidSmart centre.
3. Team from Tetrapack company had visited
F.P.Namak IBMKidSmart centre on 30th March 2011.
4. During May 2011, 69 IBMODC Volunteers from
Gurgaon visited Rojkameo and F.P.Namak
IBMKidSmart centres and conducted activities with
villagers and children
5. On 25th May 2011, Mr.Paramod, State RTE
Coordinator, Department of Elementary Education had visited F.P.Namak IBMKidSmart centre and
appreciated the activities.

6. On 7th July 2011, Additional District Commisioner
(ADC) Mr.Mahender Singh Yadav visited Khorbasai
IBMKidSmart centre.
7. On 12th September 2011, The Senior Secondary
Director of Haryana Mr.Vijender Singh had visited
Kawarsika IBMKidSmart centre.
8. On 12th September 2011, Member of Planning
Commission Mrs. Sayeeda Hameed along with
persons from 5 NGOs of mewat visited Kawarsika
IBMKidSmart centre.

15. Plans for Academic Year 2011-12
Expand 15 more IBMKidSmart centres, 8 in Haryana and 7 in Rajasthan state.
Supply stationery and learning materials like Puppetry, Jyodo gyan, story books etc. for
teachers and children use.
Install additional CD based contents of APF and other sources.
Create print rich classroom in IBMKS.
Implement 20 point scale 1st phase checklist and motivate teachers with prothsahan
awards.
Conduct TLMs workshops for Vidya Volunteers.
Conduct two-day training for Vidya Volunteers on Summer camp 2012.
Conduct three-day 2nd phase teacher training for Govt.teachers, Vidya volunteers and
Anganwadi instructors.
Conduct Summer Camp in all locations.
