DescriptionIBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager provides comprehensive, flexible, andscalable performance management with visualization and reporting of networkperformance data for complex, multivendor, multi-technology networks.

Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager is part of the IBM integrated network andservice assurance solution portfolio, comprising performance management andfault management, plus customer experience, service quality, and business servicemanagement.

New featuresIBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager, Version 1.3.2 offers the following newfeatures:

Tivoli Integrated Portal 2.2 and Tivoli Common Reporting 2.1.1 supportSupport for Tivoli Integrated Portal 2.2 and Tivoli Common Reporting2.1.1.

Oracle 11g supportSupport for 64-bit Oracle 11g (11.2.0.2) Enterprise Edition on Solaris(SPARC), Linux and AIX. Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition must include thepartitioning option.

Resource Metric Viewer (Wireless only)The Resource Metric Viewer enables users to quickly create time seriesperformance reports. The Resource Metric Viewer allows you to select anavailable model and from this model you select a subset of the availableresources and metrics on which to base the report.

Operations console enchancements (Wireline only)The Operations Console has been updated with the following features:v Date / period selection is now integrated in to report navigation and

report viewer portlets.v An About Report Dialog is now part of the report viewer so the user

can see details about the current report.v Bookmarking a report is now supported in the browser's bookmark

manager.

Cold Standby (Wireless only)The cold standby feature allows for the creation of a system which can,with a small amount of configuration, take over from your existing TivoliNetcool Performance Manager wireless system if a failure occurs.

30 minute Timezone (Wireless only)30 min timezone support allows TNPM Wireless to be configured for atimezone equal to GMT+/-[x.5] hours. In general timezones are of the formGMT=/-[x hours]. In 1.3.2 TNPM will support 30 minute timezones.

Tivoli Common Reporting enablement with Model Maker IBMCognos Edition

The Model Maker IBM Cognos Edition tooling enables Tivoli Netcool PerformanceManager users to more easily report on the performance of wireless and wirelinenetworks in Tivoli Common Reporting. Through the creation, deployment, andmanagement of common packs, Model Maker simplifies the process of publishingreport packages for network performance management on Tivoli CommonReporting.

Common packs extend technology pack data models and Summary and BusyHour data models to Tivoli Common Reporting on Tivoli Netcool PerformanceManager. After you install a technology pack, you install the correspondingcommon pack to enable Tivoli Common Reporting. Common packs can bedelivered in the COTS program with the corresponding technology packs, orcreated and customized by customers and business partners.

Currently, Model Maker automates the creation of wireless data models, and theirinclusion in common packs. Wireline data models can be manually created, andthen packaged in common packs using Model Maker Manager.

Model Maker IBM Cognos Edition consists of the following components:v Model Maker IBM Cognos Editionv The Common Pack Service.v The Base Common Pack Suite. Base Common Packs (BCPs) are standard

common packs that can be used as building blocks for other Tivoli NetcoolPerformance Manager common packs.

v A set of wireless Common Intermediate Format (CIF) files corresponding to theGOM and GOMlet technology packs.

v Resource Metric Viewer (wireless only).

Changes in portal behaviorChanging to the Tivoli Integrated Portal means some changes in behavior from theprevious portal.

Changes to login behavior with the Tivoli Integrated Portal

Because of changes to the security model with the adoption of the Tivoli IntegratedPortal, multiple users can no longer log in using the same user account. By default,Tivoli Integrated Portal does not permit multiple logins for a single user. If a usertries to log in to an account where another user is already logged in, the seconduser is prompted that the account is already in use. If the second user decides tolog in, the first user is automatically logged out and loses their session.

However, if required, you can edit the Tivoli Integrated PortalconsoleProperties.xml file to enable concurrent logins for a single user ondifferent computers. Concurrent logins to the same computer are not supported.For more information on enabling concurrent logins for a single user, please referto the IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager: DataView User and AdministratorGuide.

Bookmarking in browser

In the Tivoli Integrated Portal, bookmarking is not supported. The followingalternative navigation options are available:v Use the enhanced search functionality to find specific KPI Views.v The Back button and the Forward button on the Resource View Results pane in

the Defined Resource Views task runs the previous and next KPI views in yourhistory list.

v The History button shows you a list of the KPI views that you have run.
