Preface

IBM® Tivoli® Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines provides acentralized system management tool on the Tivoli platform for Windows NT®,2000, and XP automated teller machines that use the eXtensions for FinancialServices (XFS) interface specification Release 2.0. These automated teller machines,are referred to in this document as Windows® XFS automated teller machines.

In providing integration of Windows XFS automated teller machines with theTivoli Management Framework, IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for AutomatedTeller Machines enables:v Collecting and querying of inventory information for automated teller machines.v Distribute software to your automated teller machines.v Rebooting of automated teller machines.

These release notes are the most current information for the product. Review thesenotes thoroughly before installing or using this product.

Hardware RequirementsIBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines, Version 2.1 hasspecific hardware prerequisites that must be met before it can be installed andconsidered functional. These requirements include hardware platforms, RAM, anddisk space. The prerequisites listed in this section are the recommendedenvironment for automated teller machine at the time of publication. IBM TivoliConfiguration Manager for Automated Teller Machines, Version 2.1 is supportedonly when used with prerequisites that are officially supported by the third-partyvendor.

Disk Space RequirementsOn the Tivoli server, the disk space requirement for IBM Tivoli ConfigurationManager for Automated Teller Machines is 6 MB for any supported platform.

Note: The installation program requires at least 120 MB free disk space in theoperating system temporary directory to run.

Software RequirementsBefore installing IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated TellerMachines, Version 2.1, you must have the following software installed andrunning:

On the Tivoli Server:

v A supported operating systemv Tivoli Management Framework, Version 4.1v IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Software Distribution, Version 4.2v IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Inventory, Version 4.2

On the Automated Teller Machine

v A supported operating systemv Tivoli Management Framework Endpoint, Version 4.1v The XFS service provider software, Release 2.0

Ensure also that the logical services for the automated teller machineperipheral devices are configured. If any of the devices are configuredusing service class names other than the standard service class names,you need to define your service class names using an alias file providedwith IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines,Version 2.1. See the IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated TellerMachines: User’s Guide for a detailed explanation.

Chapter 3. Internationalization notes

This chapter contains software limitations, problems, and workarounds forinternational versions of IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated TellerMachines, Version 2.1.

Software limitations, problems and workaroundsThis section describes software limitations, problems, and workarounds that applyto international versions of IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for AutomatedTeller Machines, Version 2.1.v Defect 38318: InstallShield MultiPlatform, Version 5.0 that is used in IBM Tivoli

Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines, Version 2.1 does notsupport the Arabic locale. For this reason the dialog that loads the InstallShieldWizard is displayed with strange characters, the others dialogs are displayed inEnglish. The corresponding InstallShield MultiPlatform defect is LSMH5GAFC2,and will be fixed with Version 6.0.

v In the Arabic environment, using Windows 2000 all the Java™ dialogs default thekeyboard to Arabic. This means that in all the input text boxes you can correctlyenter Arabic characters but not English characters.Use the Alt+Shift combination to set the keyboard into English.
