No longer do you need to manage complex and energy inefficient x86 server farms witheach server dedicated to a single application or operating envi-ronment. Now you can consolidate workloads and significantlyreduce costs throughout your infrastructure while dramaticallyimproving your ability to meet changing business demands and opportunities.

Power Systems software options enable you to simplify manage-ment of both physical and virtual environments including thecapability to control data center energy usage and orchestrateprocessing resources to better meet business goals. And Powersolutions are designed to provide you with a road map to contin-uous availability of mission-critical applications—even when anexpected or unexpected interruption occurs.

Power Architecture:Power Systems Express servers are built on the foundation of thePOWER7 processor that, in addition to its use in businessservers, was used to create Watson, the POWER7 processor-based computer system that competed on Jeopardy!

Watson, a workload optimized system designed to exploit ques-tion and answer technology and natural language processing, used a cluster of 90 IBM Power 750® Express servers, systemsthat are commercially available and in use in thousands of mid-sized companies around the world today.

Power is virtualization without limitsMid-sized companies are needlessly reeling under high IT man-agement costs, low server utilization, and high energy usage. Asa result, consolidation, virtualization and IT management toolsand services can transform an IT infrastructure to become apowerful enabler of business growth.

As mid-sized businesses plan projects to transform the costs oftheir IT infrastructure, they turn to PowerVM virtualization toconsolidate multiple workloads onto fewer systems—increasingserver utilization and reducing cost. PowerVM provides a secureand scalable virtualization environment for AIX, i and Linuxapplications built upon the advanced resiliency features and leading performance of the Power Systems platform.
