Description

IBM DB2 Automation Tool for z/OS, V4.2 (5655-E37) and IBM DB2Automation Toolkit for z/OS the SAP Edition, V2.3 (5655-W74)enhancements:

• A single job profile can now perform a combination of maintenance functions byusing a profile grouping feature. You can group maintenance functions togetherby associating exception profiles to particular utility profiles, and applyingthem to the accepted or rejected objects from the object profile. For example,a single job profile can generate different image copy utility JCL for a set oftable spaces, based on a set of exceptions. For the table spaces that meet theexception criteria, full image copy utility JCL can be generated, while the table

Page 5: IBM DB2 Tools and IBM IMS Tools enhancements for management

IBM United States Software Announcement 214-371 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 5

spaces that do not meet the exception criteria for a full image copy can haveincremental image copy utility JCL generated. This functionality provides you withthe flexibility to perform a combination of maintenance functions within a singlejob profile.

• DB2 Automation Tool can now send an email, text message, or write to operator(WTO) notification when selected events occur. You create a notification profile todefine who is notified and when they are notified. Notifications can be sent whena job build begins or ends. The notification profile can be linked to a job profile,or you can specify a default notification profile that is used whenever a job profiledoes not contain a notification profile.

• New exception conditions were added to facilitate reviewing REORG criteria forLOBs. The AVGSIZE, FREESPACE, FREESPACE_PCT, and ORGRATIO exceptioncriteria can be specified for LOBs.

• An option was added to the job profile Generation Options panel to allow you tospecify a unique second level data set name qualifier for the utility work datasets.

• When a dynamic mapping table is created during a REORG utility, you can specifya separate storage group for the mapping table index.

• When viewing execution reports, you can use a partition number to view objectsor jobs that include certain objects.

• When customizing DB2 Automation Tool using Tools Customizer:

– If you associate the members of a data sharing group to the groupattach name, the customization jobs for binding, repository update, userauthorizations, and loading sample profiles are generated only once per datasharing group.

– An optional step is added to free DB2 Automation Tool plans and packages.

– The plan and package owner and DB2 Automation Tool repository qualifier canbe specified as the DB2 subsystem level, instead of at the global level for allsubsystems. This allows you to easily specify different owners and qualifiers fordifferent subsystems.

• The UNLOAD utility panels have a new command that allows you to save thecurrent field values as defaults for your user ID, so you do not have to re-enterthem each time you edit the panels.

• A new exception condition called CLUSTERING was added to exception profiles. The CLUSTERING criteria checks the indexes in the correlated object profileto determine if they are defined as a clustering index. When triggered, thisexception causes the utility to be generated at the table space level, and not atthe index level.

• On IBM DB2 9 for z/OS, or later systems, if a REORG TABLESPACE is beingperformed at the PART level, DB2 Automation Tool can convert the REORG toPART ALL if the percentage of total partitions in the object profile that are to bereorganized exceed a specified value.

• The Disaster Recovery feature and the stand-alone utilities BACKUP SYSTEM andRESTORE SYSTEM were deprecated in a previous release and have been removedfrom DB2 Automation Tool V4.2.

• Usability improvements:

– A command was added to the Exceptions Profile Display to allow you to easilyview a list of the selected exception profile conditions on one screen. A secondcommand generates the exception conditions as Boolean logic, so you cansee the exception conditions as they would be evaluated when processingexceptions during a job build.

– Panel processing and messaging is improved when canceling operations onprofile panels and execution reports panels.

– You can now create an empty object profile when objects have not beenselected.

IBM DB2 Sort for z/OS, V2.1 (5655-AA9) is a DB2 tool that enables high-speedutility sort processing for data stored in IBM DB2 for z/OS databases. It can improvethe sort performance of many of the DB2 utilities delivered in the IBM DB2 UtilitiesSuite and of several other DB2 management tools. DB2 Sort can improve sortperformance through enhanced sort technology and by communicating with DB2utilities and tools to adjust system resources for more optimal sorting. This approach

Page 6: IBM DB2 Tools and IBM IMS Tools enhancements for management

IBM United States Software Announcement 214-371 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 6

to sorting can result in reduced sort CPU time. The following DB2 utilities and toolscan benefit from improved sorting performance by using DB2 Sort:

DB2 Sort is designed to meet these demandsby optimizing the use of memory, utilizing IBM System z Integrated InformationProcessor (zIIP)(1) technology, and optimizing the management of sort work diskspace. Workloads that could benefit most from DB2 Sort include:

• Highly transactional workloads that perform many insert, update, and deleteoperations that require REORG.

• Applications such as data warehousing applications that use LOAD and REBUILDINDEX with large volumes of data.

• Situations where data volume or inaccurate statistics have resulted in SortCapacity Exceeded errors.

DB2 Sort is not intended to be a replacement for general-purpose sorting productsthat are invoked through the standard z/OS system sort interface.

• Reduce recovery time and complexity with faster restore and parallel recovery(log apply)

• Support efforts to reduce storage costs by utilizing one backup for multiplepurposes

• Reduce the effort required to accomplish IMS backup and recovery managementthrough an easier-to-use ISPF interface

• Use fewer CPU, I/O, and tape resources than image copy

• Identify assets and prepare files and JCL for a more successful disaster recoveryor disaster restart

• Automatically perform backup validation to achieve more successful recoveries

• Document compliance efforts against internal requirements or federal regulations

• Reduce recovery time objectives by transforming disaster recovery into a disasterrestart process

• Eliminate backup windows and extend batch processing windows by eliminatingmany image copies

• Perform IMS system cloning operations from a system-level backup withoutincreasing storage for the clone when using space-efficient technologies

• Expand the backup and recovery scope by encompassing IMS and DB2environments to combine and coordinate management of the two IBM databasemanagement systems

IMS Recovery Expert for z/OS, V2.2 offers the following enhancements:

• Accelerated offload

– Enhances tape offload and restore processes through parallel processing.

• DB2 and IMS coordinated backup and recovery synergy

– Identifies quiet time intersecting recovery points within IMS databases, and additionally between IMS and DB2, through a log analysis. Subsequentrecovery can then be performed to the same coordinated point in time.

– Creates clean, consistent recovery points across IMS databases or additionally, across IMS and DB2 objects.

– Provides enhanced application recovery by coordinating object recovery forIMS and DB2 databases.

– Improves disaster recovery planning by providing disaster recovery simulation. This timestamp determination process can be executed at the production site,in order to determine how far back the recovery point would be.

– Option to use one backup process that combines system-level backups formany IMS systems.

• Ease of use

– Improves system-level backup usage by optionally issuing NOTIFY.ICcommands for data sets included in a system-level backup. This allows for thechange accumulation process to be reset and inactive PRILOGs to be deleted.

– Creates image copies, if needed for additional processes, directly from system-level backups.

– Enhances support for user recovery utilities to allow for greater control on howrecovery utilities are used.

– Provides greater flexibility by providing SMS storage group discovery whencreating a backup profile. This simplifies the definition of volumes to include inthe backup.

• Improved availability and reliability

– Takes advantage of the investment in FlashCopy by exploiting FlashCopyconsistency groups functionality. This means that the IMS systems will nothave to be suspended and consistency of non-IMS data sets can also beachieved.

• Improved serviceability

– Provides a utility to easily identify current product module maintenance levels.

Value Unit-based pricing

Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM System z IBM International Program LicenseAgreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth andenterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has asingle price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, forconverting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly,Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to beconverted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages.Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used forthe remainder of this description.

Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program withValue Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBMterms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of thevarious Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquelyidentified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.

Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to asentitled license capacity. If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for aSystem z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Unitsis based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.

For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:

• Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs

• Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise

Page 24: IBM DB2 Tools and IBM IMS Tools enhancements for management

IBM United States Software Announcement 214-371 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 24

• Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit

• Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determinethe total cost

To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain acopy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool website

http://ibm.com/zseries/swprice/vuctool

Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, oraggregated with Value Units of another product.

To determine the required license capacity for the System z IPLA program youselected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Full-capacity mainframes

In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.

Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a Systemz IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machineswhere the System z IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/library/swpriceinfo/

Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program withthese terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge(MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.

Sub-capacity mainframes

In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.

Execution based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity programwith these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the System z IPLA programexecutes.

z/OS based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with theseterms equals the license capacity of z/OS on the machines where the System z IPLAprogram executes.

Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program withthese terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge(MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.

Full machine based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program withfull machine based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where theSystem z IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The IBM Systemz Machines Exhibit , Z125-3901, or visit the Mainframes section of the System zExhibits website.

For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System zIPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parentprogram across the environment, regardless of where in the environment theSystem z IPLA program executes.

An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualifiedParallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across theenterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA

Page 45: IBM DB2 Tools and IBM IMS Tools enhancements for management

IBM United States Software Announcement 214-371 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 45

program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessedseparately.

When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used ina qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the Systemz IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program acrossthe Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:

• Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex

Sub-capacity eligibility

To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, youmust first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity WorkloadLicense Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). Toimplement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:

• All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OSoperating systems.

• Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.

• All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture®(64-bit) mode.

For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM eachmonth. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity ReportingTool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the Systemz Software Pricing website

http://ibm.com/zseries/swprice

You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever isapplicable:

• The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBMCustomer Agreement - Attachment for System z Workload License Charges(Z125-6516).

• The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in theIBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for IBM System z 890 and 800 LicenseCharges (Z125-6587).

Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specifiedin the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for IBM System z9® andSystem z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment issigned, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous System z IPLAsub-capacity terms and conditions.

Sub-capacity utilization determination

Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacityeligible reference product and machine.

On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD)

To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity onthe corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM Systemz On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.
