Description

IBM Case Manager provides capabilities organizations can use to drive moresuccessful, optimized case outcomes. With the extended capabilities of IBM CaseManager V5.2.1, cases that require documents and data from other locations ormore complex tasking can now be built much faster and with much less customcoding.

Maximizing value from industry-leading enterprise content management technology

• Include relevant documents that may reside in other repositories and offercommon document management actions on them as supported by the repository

– Many organizations store their business content in more than one repository.Case solutions often have the need to include these documents as part of acase. Leaving them where they reside, and filing a reference in the case, givecase workers an easy, consistent access to these documents as they progressthe case.

– Documents from other IBM FileNet® object stores, IBM FileNet ContentManager, IBM Content Manager on Demand, and any other repository thatsupports the Common Management Information Services standard can besearched for and added to a case.

– A consistent user interface is provided, no matter which repository contains thedocument.

• Has the ability to display externally managed data along side case properties toensure case workers have the up-to-date information they require

– Case Manager provides the ability to define and manage case properties thatcontain the key information captured in a case. Using the data layout feature,this data can be presented to the user in an intuitive way by laying it out intabbed sections or multiple columns.

– Data that exists in other systems can be displayed along with the regular caseproperties, providing case workers with quick access to this data and in theright context.

– Data property placeholders can be added to any data layout view and using anew API, can be populated at runtime.

• Includes new feature rich thin client document viewer option that does notrequire long applet downloads

– Documents are rendered quickly and accurately on the server and delivered tothe user in a format that is displayable in a web browser without helper plug-ins or applets.

• Has the ability to use entry templates within a solution to streamline addingdocuments to a case

– Entry templates have long been a convenient time saver when addingdocuments into a FileNet repository. They allow the preconfiguration of many

of the manual steps, including presetting the filing location, assigning security,and default meta data that describes the document.

• Use desktop document tracking to simplify the authoring and updating of casedocuments you check out to your desktop

Driving better outcomes with dynamic case and task modeling

• Has ability to configure push in-baskets to avoid user's selecting work they wantto perform

– A new in-basket configuration for case style solutions includes tasks thatdeliver specialized work to roles that contain users that need to complete thework in a certain order and must not be allowed to cherry pick work that is notthe priority.

– Simple, configurable Start Processing button in the in-basket delivers workitems one after another based on a predefined sorting order.

• Includes new task level properties that remove the need for managing datarelated to individual task instances

– Allows solutions to be easily created without the need for custom coding whereinformation that is specific to a task can be captured and persisted with thetask object itself instead of in the case data or custom location where it is notas convenient.

– Very useful for repeating tasks where this data might be unique to each taskinstance.

– Can be mixed into the property views such as any other case and stepproperty, and captured for reporting and auditing in the same way.

• Can define to-dos that allow case workers to see and act on importantinformation in a single, consolidated view

– Many case solutions include tasks that are not workflow driven, but simply alist of things that need to be done.

– To-do tasks are designed specifically for this purpose, allowing the quickdefinition and user interface configuration of these without the custom codingpreviously required.

Delivering better solutions faster

• New configuration options for data and page layout styles

– Provides additional options for the page layouts you create to displayinformation to end users including new header, footer, columns combinations,and collapsible column locations.

– Helps ensure case information is presented to end users in the most efficientway.

• Advanced customization of data layouts with less custom code and extensivereuse of standard components

– Includes new custom integration APIs that allow you to create your own dataeditors that are displayed on the case properties widget

– Provides a way to handle the data entry and display of properties in a solutionspecific way

– Registers custom editors into IBM Case Builder and reusable from the userinterface in any other solution, extending the standard editors that are alreadyprovided.

IBM FileNet Business Process Manager components withdrawn from Case FoundationV5.2:

As previously announced in Software Announcement 213-322, dated September10, 2013, IBM FileNet Business Process Framework and ECM Widgets componentswere withdrawn from the Case Foundation V5.2 bundle that is included as part ofIBM Case Manager.

User Value Unit (UVU)

UVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. UVU Proofs ofEntitlement (PoEs) are based on the number and type of users for the givenprogram. Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of UVUsrequired for licensee's environment as specified in the program specific table. TheUVU entitlements are specific to the program and type of user and may not beexchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another programor type of user. Refer to the program specific UVU table.

Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. RVU PoEs are basedon the number of units of a specific resource used or managed by the program.Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of RVUs required forlicensee's environment for the specific resources as specified in the program specifictable. RVU entitlements are specific to the program and the type of resource andmay not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements ofanother program or resource. Security: The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to be secure in monitoring,reporting, and storing the data at IBM. The Electronic Service Agent tool securelytransmits via either the Internet (HTTPS or VPN) or modem, and can be configuredto communicate securely through gateways to provide you a single point of exit fromyour site. Communication is one way. Activating Electronic Service Agent does notenable IBM to call into your system. System inventory information is stored in asecure database, which is protected behind IBM firewalls. It is viewable only by youand IBM. Your business applications or business data is never transmitted to IBM.

More accurate reporting: Because system information and error logs areautomatically uploaded to the IBM Support center in conjunction with the servicerequest, you are not required to find and send system information, decreasing therisk of misreported or misdiagnosed errors. Once inside IBM, problem error datais run through a data knowledge management system and knowledge articles areappended to the problem record.
