IBE INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION SERVICESNovember 2001 *The International Bureau of Education was founded in Geneva in 1925.

In 1929, under new statutes, it became the first intergovernmental organization in the field of education.

From the beginning, one of the IBEs main activities was the collection and diffusion of information centred around its Library.

IBE INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION SERVICESNovember 2001 *After the creation of UNESCO, the two organizations worked together, notably in organizing the IBEs International Conferences on Education.

Finally, the IBE was integrated into UNESCO on 1 January 1971, after a two-year interim period.

1970A new collection and card catalogue were created in conformity with UNESCO Library practices.Work on computerizing the Library, now known as the Documentation Centre, began.
