IV-The first step is the most difficult how to prepare? which optionals? what to read? how much to read?many such questions comprehend your mind when you get really seriosly about civil services examination?

PRAKASH- My task for selecting optionals was simple as i have command over electrical engg. andmathematics. for electrical engg. i took advice from Mr. Supreet Singh Gulati's blog about the books andreference materials.for mathematics i consulted friends who were preparing for this exam. for how much to read, stick to thesyllabus prescribed by the UPSC.

PRAKASH-As i said earlier i did not have to spend any time on deciding the optionals. but i think thatinterest and aptitude should be the foremost criteria for deciding the optionals. if you are comfortable in yourgraduation subject go ahead with it. one should carefully look nat the syllabus, previous years papers andsome basic text books oif that subject before deciding.
