Publication files are monitored: •We do have all the proceedings and all the newsletters except for number 27 (1987 or 1988).
Weak areas of the collection:•Committee reports and minutes•Regional groups
Guidelines:•Review files before sending.•Label files – inclusive dates, subject or folder name, etc.•Paper is the preferred format, but we do accept digital files.
Send material that meets the goals of the archives:•Enduring historical, legal, fiscal and/or administrative value to warrant permanent preservation.

IAMSLIC Resource Sharing Goals
• Equitably distribute the burden of interlibrary lending across all types and sizes of libraries
• Help smaller facilities share their unique or geographically distinct collections with our global community
• Simplify searching and borrowing
• Incorporate libraries without online catalogs into the Union List of Marine and Aquatic Serials so their collections are accessible
• Free resource sharing for all IAMSLIC Members
IAMSLIC Z39.50 Distributed Library• Launched in July 2002
• 398 potential borrowers
• 100 participating lending libraries
• 15,000 ILL requests processed to date (roughly 60 per week or 3,000 per year)
• During 2006-2007:
– 110 libraries made resource sharing requests
– 44 countries were served
– 77 libraries in 22 countries supplied documents
How to Participate
As a borrower: Simply join IAMSLIC!
As a lender:
Those with Z39.50 server capability should send the following information to [email protected]
1. Catalog server IP address or Internet name(e.g. 207.62.129.121 or voyager.csumb.edu)
2. Z39.50 server port number for incoming queries(often 210, 7090 for Endeavor, 2200 for SIRSI, etc.)
3. Internal database name for Z39.50(e.g. Voyager, UNICORN, MARION, INNOPAC, etc.)
Alternatives for Participation
Don’t have Z39.50 capability?
You can join the Union List of Marine and Aquatic Serials which is also searched as part of the IAMSLIC Z39.50 Distributed Library:
– Add your library’s serial holdings to existing records
– Enter new journal titles not already in the Union List
– Records are exported periodically and indexed for Z39.50 retrieval in the IAMSLIC Distributed Library system
– Direct input of titles or input of tab delimited text or spreadsheet files

2006-2007 Highlights
• Investigate the creation and development of an IAMSLIC subject repository and metadata harvester.
– The Aquatic Commons– FishCode brochure on The Aquatic Commons
• Develop guidelines to facilitate digital integration and preservation of literature from developing countries.
– Guidelines on Digital Publishing by Wilkinson & Collins• Improve resource sharing in developing countries
– African Union List of Serials• Promote collaboration and networking between fisheries and
aquatic science libraries– Collins’ work as membership committee chair
• Increase coverage of information from developing countries in ASFA
– IAMSLIC members became ASFA partners: Centre National des Sciences Halieutiques de Boussoura, Guinéa; Living Aquatic Resources Research Centre, Vientiane, Lao PDR
