I’m Working on Spiritual Competence 78% of Americans deﬁne themselves as Christians which is roughly 101,000,000 people of that number; • 56,000,000 attend church regularly ( every 3 to 4 weeks) • 53,000,000 pray at least once a day • 37,000,000 read there bibles once a day • 93,000,000 believe that the bible is to be taken literally if these stats be true then somebody please tell me; What’s up with the condition of our country? What’s up with the condition of our communities? What’s up with the condition of our church? What’s up with the condition at our cribs? In the discipline of Christian psychology there is a concept called spiritual competence, which presents the notion that one’s level of competence in society as a whole is directly related to one’s ability to reconcile their relationship with God, self and others. How I relate to my God • obey HIM - Exodus 19:5 Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My town possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; • worship HIM - Deuteronomy 6:13 You shall fear only the LORD your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name. • emulate HIS life - Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. How I relate within myself • Free your mind - Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. • Fight your fears (40 fear not’s) - Luke 12:7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. • Face your destiny - Ephesians 2:10 - For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. How I relate to those around me • Reveal whats inside of you - John 15:15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. • Release what you have been given - Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.
