Today we continue our year long journey through the Bible by focusing on the time when Israel rejected God as their one true King and desired to have a human king. Today is also the second Sunday of Advent, which is a season of waiting for Christ to come and set the world right. In the midst of our own world filled with chaos and violence, may we renew our commitment to following Christ’s example of peace.

We are so glad you are here with us to worship God and experience God’s love. This morning you were greeted by Harlin and Doris Unruh and Fred, Diane and Kristin Unruh. A special welcome is extended to all visitors.

Childcare is provided by Janna Duerksen in the nursery during the worship service.

9:00 a.m.— Prelude

9:15 a.m.— Next Sunday we continue our journey through the Bible by looking at the story of David being anointed King while Saul was technically still ruling over the people of Israel. This caused much tension between Saul and David for quite some time. Many years later, Jesus came as God’s anointed one in the line of David. Scripture for reflection is 1 Samuel 16-17. Pastor Phil will be preaching.

10:30 a.m.— Fellowship Time/Biblical Snacks.

10:45 a.m.—Faith Formation for everyone.

Advent Offering: MCC Relief kits for The Philippines. Next Sunday your are invited to bring: 4 new bath towels (med. Weight, dark/bright colors)

The following requests were shared on December 1.

Jim Schmidt praised God for people's generous giving in meeting and even exceeding our church budget for 2013. Thanks be to God!

Remember to pray for:

Caring Quilt Locations: The Adult Care Quilt is home.

Western District Conference: Byron and Hilde Pellecer have arrived in Wichita, KS to lead the Hispanic church plant supported by the three WDC congregations in Wichita. Uphold them in prayer as they make connections, survey neighborhoods and begin to share God's good news with all they meet.

Mennonite Mission Network: Due to the onset of winter and the

holidays, requests for assistance reach a peak this month in the nonprofit agencies for which MMN’s Mennonite Voluntary Service participants work. Pray that the 57 MVSers in 17 locations will continue to serve their host communities with love and patience.

Mennonite Education Agency: Pray for Bethel and Hesston College students as they prepare for the end of the semester, final exams, and travels home at the end of this week. Give thanks for a productive and successful semester.
