Prospectus for International Students at TNU
I. Introduction
Tianjin Normal University (hereinafter, “TNU”), founded in 1958, is a key comprehensive
university focusing on teachers’ education in Tianjin. The main campus, beautiful in scenery and
rich in culture, covers a land area of 2,333,333 square meters and a building area of 860,000
square meters. Situated along subway, both our main campus and Balitai campus are convenient
with transportation and adequate life service facilities.
TNU now has 2 faculties, 20 colleges and offers 70 undergraduate programs, 8 doctorate programs
of first-level disciplines, 1 professional doctoral degree program for education, 35 master
programs of first-level disciplines, 15 professional master’s degree programs, covering 10
academic disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science,
engineering, management, and art.
TNU maintains openness in education. It has established cooperative ties with 177 famous
universities, institutes and regional governments from more than 33 countries. TNU is one of the
first “demonstration base schools (a model example of a university that excels in international
education)”, authorized by Chinese Ministry of Education, for international students studying in
China. Running four Confucius Institutes overseas, TNU has been awarded “Confucius Institute of
the Year” for 10 times, achieved one highest honor in “Confucius Institute Foundation Award”,
and rated as “Advanced Confucius Institute’ Organizer” and“Model Confucius Institute”. TNU
has more than 50 years of history in international students’ recruitment and education,
accumulates rich experience in teaching management, and enjoys high prestige in international
students’ education.
As a Host Institution, TNU accepts international students funded by Chinese Government
Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship and Tianjin Government Scholarship.
TNU offers International Standard key curriculums like Accounting (International Accounting).
Based on multilateral cooperation with universities in the USA, the UK and Australia, TNU and
its partner universities have achieved mutual recognition of credits and dual-degree awarding and
enabled students to pursue a “cross-border” study in the multicultural background. This
program-providing specialized courses, conducted in English, with extensive adaptability and
international compatibility-enjoys great popularity among international students.
TNU has abundant teaching resources. Most of our faculty members in international students’
education possess one year or more overseas teaching experience and gain great popularity among
students for their enthusiasm, integrity, patience, carefulness and excellent teaching skills. We
hope that through our first-class education and service, we can build a strong bridge for
multicultural communication and integration and make significant contributions to educational
cooperation, cultural exchanges and lasting friendship between China and foreign countries.
