Important Things During the Revolution• Saratoga – October 17, 1777

– Patriot Victory- We CAN beat the British! – French ally w/ Americans

• Valley Forge (1778) – no battle (emotional victory)– Washington & Continental Army fight to stay alive

through the harsh New England winter- TOUGH!

• Yorktown – October 19, 1781– Brits, led by Gen. Cornwallis,

surrender, officially ending war

Shay’s Rebellion

1. Farmers in Massachusetts didn’t want to pay higher taxes

2. Tried to seize (take) weapons from an arsenal

3. State had to send in militia to put down rebellion

4. Four farmers killed
