Key Incidents During the Revolution• Saratoga – October 17, 1777
– French ally w/ Americans officially (Gen. Marquis de Lafayette)
• Valley Forge (1778) – no battle = no victory– Washington & Continental Army fight to stay alive
through the harsh New Eng. Winter- TOUGH!
• Yorktown – October 19, 1781– Brits, led by Gen. Cornwallis,
surrender, officially ending war
Effects of Revolutionary War– War is over!!! Treaty of Paris signed 1783– US grows larger
