Do you see an identity crisis? The roles of gender and gen- der issues are becoming more and more distorted in our culture. The last presidential election cycle revealed a great deal of information about our culture. One of those pieces of information revealed 1/4 of the voters were single fe- males, and they voted overwhelming for agendas favoring social programs and government support. In February of 2012, NYTimes reported nearly 2/3 of children in the U.S. are born to single mothers. Furthermore, we are watching a culture gradually become feminized. Somewhere along the way our culture began to look down upon masculinity, male leadership, and the male form as an acceptable gen- der. Women in media are defenders, providers, and protec- tors. Inconsistency exists when we demand one biblical principle be practiced, but we are content to see another equally vital biblical attribute virtu- ally ignored. We insist husbands be loving, tender, affec- tionate, spiritually astute and apt to lead. These are all spiritual qualities and requirements of a husband to fulfill his role in light of God’s will. Yet to insist that a wife be a nurture of the home, a supporter of her husband, a re- specter of his role, a teacher to her children, and a manager of her household, we’d be accused of propelling women back to a stone age era, and being mysogynistic, when in reality we are applying the same standard of truth from the same source of truth we insist be seen in husbands. Do you see an image? The perception among our society today is for women to carry on the role of wife, mother, homemaker, and corporate executive, 9 to 5 employee, or simply the working woman. The image of the wife of Proverbs 31 is becoming a rarity. But the problem with the image of a wife and only a wife, is from a societal standpoint, that’s not enough. Their role is minimized as though she's trapped in a deficiency of being. Truth be told, most of our wives would prefer to be the model wife of scripture, minus the expectations of the world, but sadly, we fear man’s judgment more than we fear God’s. We were first created in the image of God and to please Him is to gain our greatest blessing for our hearts and the hearts of our families. This Sunday, as every second Sunday in May, honor the role and those who reside in the role of a godly wife and mother. Encourage her to ignore the confusion of the world and listen to the commendation of the Lord for who she is and the value she brings to her family. I hope you know, the lives of husbands and the lives of children find their greatest gift given to them from the heart of a mother shaped by the hand of God.

I Surrender All“I Hope You Know”

There is a moment in Ezekiel 8, when the man of God was taken up between heaven and earth, and the Spirit of the Lord began to show him visions of the people of Israel. In these visions there was a phrase asked of Ezekiel, “Do you see.” Some things we may know are going on around us, but just as Ezekiel was asked, so too we ask, “Do you see” what it’s doing to the structure of family, and the stability of our families? Do you see an identity crisis? The roles of gender and gen-der issues are becoming more and more distorted in our culture. Senior Sunday A day to honor our graduates…..

A CROWD AT THE LIGHTHOUSE! We had

over 60 together on Wednesday, April 29 before mid-week service for food, fun, and fellowship. Thanks to Patrick & Anita Allen for hosting and making several trips to get more pizza. It was a great night and always good to see many guests with us as well. Also, the expansion and renovation is almost completed. In the weeks ahead we will have an open house for all to see. THANKS TO BILL MCDONALD for hosting another Lad & Dad event at his farm last weekend. All had a wonderful time as memories were made and a lot of fun was had!

SENIOR SUNDAY WAS A WONDERFUL way to show honor to a special group. We began with Bryan McAlister and I sharing a lesson on the “Core of our Faith.” We then took the opportunity to recognize the group and give them a Bible from the congregation. This was followed up with a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall for the Seniors, their families, the Elders, Ministers, Staff and their families too. I always enjoy this time as the Elders and Ministers take a moment to share some words of wisdom with the group. A new addition that was a big hit this year was the Senior Tables decorated to tell the stories of each Senior. This also allowed the congregation a chance to say a word of encouragement through notes. Thank you to Susan Dotson and Misty Shelton for helping decorate and serve the food on Sunday. Thank you as well to Karen Bridges and Johnny Ruth Elrod for helping with decorations too! Also, a special thanks to Fish Camp for the delicious food as they catered the event. CINCINNATI BLAST APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE! This is for the Senior High and 20/30s. The dates are May 29-31. We will see a Reds game, go to Kings Island, and make a lot of memories during that time. This is always a time for these two groups to get to know each other better! Get an application for more info,

and Return it before the deadline! WE HOPE THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT ONE PROMISE SERIES has been a blessing to all who have been with us. As we have been

looking at Song of Solomon for dating, sexuality, and marriage. My appreciation goes to all the parents and teens who have joined in the discussion with Bryan and I as we have asked some thought provoking questions. Our prayer is that the topics continue in your homes after services and that communication is opening up for more healthy relationships. We have just a few weeks left, come join in the class and the discussion! “TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Eccl 4:9-12. Keep sharpening, hold each other accountable, and always… follow His path, -Craig
