Lismore Public School Wednesday 17 November 2010 N E W S L E T T E R Honour Before Honours School Assembly: Class Items by SCH, 3/4C and 3/4D Time: 11:40 am in the school hall TERM 4 - WEEK 6 Kindergarten Orientation We have finally completed our Kindergarten Orientation Program for next year and at this stage we have 43 Students enrolled. This will mean that once again we will have two Kindergarten classes operating. Kindergarten students will commence school on Tuesday 1 February 2011. We are still accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2011. All of the children looked smart and were showing off in their “next year I’m going to big school at Lismore Public School” T shirts. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the office staff for their efforts in organising the Kindergarten packs, enrolments forms, family photos, 2011 Calendars and the T - shirts for the 2011 kinder students. A special thank you to the Kindergarten teaching staff and the teachers aides for the programs and supervision of our new students. Well done, everyone! If you wish to seek information about our school, its programs or speak to the principal please contact the school office. Jazz up the canteen competition Students have another week to enter the school canteen competition to brighten up our canteen. The aim is to think up a catchy name and draw a colourful picture on the entry form. The winning picture will be used as a template to decorate the front wall of the canteen. The winner will have the canteen named after their idea, will paint the front of the canteen and win a $20.00 canteen voucher. Be immortalised and win the competition by completing the entry form. Please return to the school office. Parent Survey A parent survey is being sent home with this newsletter for every parent to complete and return to the school office. We seek your input on the operating of the school and how you feel we can improve the school as an organisation. It’s your school so we appreciate your ideas. Tropicana Day On Wednesday 24 November we are having another theme day at the school canteen. This day will have a tropical theme with foods in the canteen having a tropical flavour to them. Students are asked to participate in this day by wearing their favourite tropical clothes and purchasing yummy food. Orders must be in by this Friday 19 November 2010. Expression of Interest The P & C Association of Lismore Public School is offering the position of Canteen Supervisor. The Canteen operates 5 days per week, for four hours a day. The hours are 10am to 2pm and the rate of pay is in line with the award wage. You can collect an expression of interest from the school office or by emailing: [email protected] Vlad Knaus, Principal

Kindergarten Orientation We have finally completed our Kindergarten Orientation Program for next year and at this stage we have 43 Students enrolled. School Rules Competition

Kindergarten to Year 2 winners from last week’s Rules Competition. Well done everybody. This week it will be the turn of Years 5 / 6 and the Support Classes.

Sport Photos - reminder School sport photos will be taken this Friday 19 November. Students are asked to wear their full sports uniform. Each group photo cost $15.00 and can be paid to the photographer on the day. Please ensure your child brings their order envelope with correct money enclosed .

Lake Ainsworth/Stradbroke Excursions Medical forms and swimming notes which were sent home last Friday 12 November for Lake Ainsworth and Stradbroke excursions are to be returned to the school office immediately. Please finalise payment for these two excursions.

School Banking - reminder School banking is held every Wednesday and students are reminded to bring in their weekly deposit. For every deposit a student makes, no matter how big or small, they will receive a cool Dollarmites token. These tokens can then be exchanged for gifts of different values as a reward for saving. Throughout the year the bank also runs competitions where schools and students have the chance to win prizes for saving regularly. Remember we are also awarding the class with the most deposits in Term 4 with a certificate. So far KH is in the lead. Keep up the good work and remember to bank every WEDNESDAY. Helpers Morning Tea A Thank You Morning Tea will be held for our school helpers on Thursday 25 November 2010 from 11.00am to 12pm in the school staffroom. Please RSVP by Friday November 19, 2010.

Year 5 Excursion To Ozanam Villa Year 5 students will be visiting Ozanam Villa residents to participate in a Trivia Quiz morning next Thursday 25 November. Students will leave Lismore Public School at 9.25am and return at 11.10am. Students must be dressed in their school uniform and please bring a hat as they will walk to and from Ozanam Villa. They will be accompanied by teacher Kerry St George, and teachers aide Monica Hammond. Coordinator Kerry St George

Presentation Day Presentation Day for the whole school will be held at the Whitebrook Theatre at Southern Cross University on the 14 December 2010 commencing at 9.30am finishing at 10.45am. Travel for students will be by bus which will leave Lismore Public School at approximately 9.15am.

Year 6 Graduation Night Graduation night will be held at the Goonellabah Sports Club on Tuesday 14 December at 6pm arrival for 7pm dinner. Adults $32.00, Students $17.00. Tickets are available from the school office and must be purchased by Wednesday 1 December 2010 to ensure bookings are finalised.
