Carolyn Smith, 59, East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at Saint Joseph-London.
A native of Laurel County, she was born June 29, 1952, the daughter of the late Henderson and Grace Newcomb Eversole. She was a sales clerk at CVS Pharmacy, and a member of Laurel Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Myrs Smith, East Bernstadt; two sons, Shawn (Tracy) Smith, East Bernstadt, and Adam (Terrie) Smith, Summerville, Ohio; a daughter, Amy (Steve) Bell, East Bernstadt; a sister, Wilma Helton, East Bernstadt; five brothers, Ronnie Eversole, London, Randall Eversole, Eddie Eversole, Leonard Eversole and Bobby Eversole, all of East Bernstadt; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Denny McCowan officiating.
Burial followed in Smith Cemetery, East Bernstadt.
Pallbearers were Shawn Smith, Adam Smith, Steve Bell, Gary Helton, Clayton Helton, Ricky Eversole, Adrian Eversole and Randy Eversole.
Visitation was after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
William (Bill) ArvinState Highway Department
William (Bill) Arvin, 77, Fariston Road, London, Ky., passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Saint Joseph-London.
Born Jan. 22, 1935 in Estill County, Ky., he was the son of the late Albert Turner and Myrtle Edwards Arvin. He was a retired state highway department work-er, and affiliated with the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Smith Arvin, London; two daugh-ters, Charlotte Jeffrey, London, and Debbie Fathergill, Corinth, Ky.; a brother, Dale Arvin, Irvine, Ky.; three sisters, Wilberta Richardson, Conners- ville, Ind., Ruth Winkle and Anna Cox, both of Irvine, Ky.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, April 6 in the chapel of London Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Gilbert officiating.
Services followed by burial were also conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at the South Irvine Cemetery, Irvine, Ky.
London Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Violet Rose DillionHomemaker
Violet Rose Dillion, 78, London, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
A native of Laurel County, she was born June 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Burton and Louvernia Hubbard Oakley. She was a home-maker and member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilson Ray Dillion; a grandchild; and the following siblings, Dorothy Smith, Ethel Adams, Lola Oakley, Geneva Dillion, Walter Oakley, G.S. Oakley and Everett Oakley.
Survivors include three daugh-ters, Donna Tuttle and Debbie Sue Hubbard, both of London, and Linda Carol Kelley, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a son, Wilson Ray Dillion, Walkerton, Ind.; a sister, Bessie Creech, London; seven brothers, Burton Oakley Jr., Lonnie Oakley, Chester Oakley, Arthur Oakley, Elmer Oakley, Randall Oakley and Ronald Oakley, all of London; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchil-dren.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with David Hammack and Jamie Krahenbuhl officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Laurel County.
Pallbearers were William Tuttle, Patrick Tuttle, Ricky Dillion, Jimmy Dillion, Dwayne Dillion and David Bryant.
Michael Smallwood
Michael Smallwood, 54, passed away March 15, 2012, at his home in Middletown, Ohio.
Born April 24, 1957 in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of the late High and Bessie Smallwood.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Smallwood and Steve Smallwood, both of Middletown, Ohio; two daughters, Alana Smallwood and Christin Smallwood, both of Dayton, Ohio; six brothers, Sherman Smallwood, Chillcothe, Ohio, Howard Smallwood and David Smallwood, of Ohio, High Smallwood Jr., and Kenneth Smallwood, both of Franklin, Ohio; and Gene Smallwood, Mexico; two sisters, Betty Lou Smallwood Burton and husband, Leonard, and Marietta Smallwood Riley and husband, Jimmy; five grandchildren; and serveral nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
There was no visitation or funeral services.Arrangements were by the Wilson Schramm
Spaulding Funeral Home in Middletown, Ohio.
