I KNOW HOW A CAGED BIRD FEELS

I know how a caged bird feels,When she is snaffled in the bars,With her tied legs and stifled voiceLay on the floor, unnoticeableWhat can she do now?Her rock-bottom voice and deceased movementCompelled her to sleep.

Over the mountains, over the plainsSousing fully in the rains,With her feathers broadly open,The journey seems sempiternal.

And a piece to say of the oceanThat rills the lucid and the bluest waterUnder which the predator scuppers,Hey! With her wide eyes brightened,They were seen from far apart,And her feathers got almost nabbedBut they go in vain. It was a beautiful dream. And she opens her eyes to the cruel world.

Still, her legs tied and voice unclear,But her eyes wide opened. The boundless flight in the air that she saw,Through which freedom peeps and hopes lingerWith whom the boundation was not the bars,And they winged fearlessly in the skies,And I tell you what, their legs tied with the speedy windAnd their voices like king,And unlike her cage of bars,Sky was their only limit.
