Punjab in Persian Language means “five” (Punj) and “water” (ab). So the name of the region signifies “The land of five rivers”. The pious land of Gurus (Teachers)Punjab is located in the North-West of India. With its fertile farming land, is one of India’s most prosperous states. Punjab’s Climate is determined by the hot and cold conditions. The region lying near the foot hills of Himalayas receive heavy rainfall whereas the region lying at a distant from the hills, the rainfall is scanty and the temperature is high.

PUNJAB has earned the reputation for providing educational excellence through our robust University system, IIT, IIM, IISER etc. IKGPTU is among the earliest Technical Universities of India.

Gujral Punjab Technical University formerly known as Punjab Technical University was established in the year 1997 under The Punjab Technical University Act, 1996 (Punjab Act No.1 of 1997) for the advancement of technical education. At present University has 9 own campuses and 233 affiliated colleges. Selected students from these camps represent the University in North Zone,

Inter-University and National Youth Festivals. To honour & motivate the winners of Inter-University Youth Festival, University reimburse the tuition fee of all the participants.

One World:Our International students in colleges representing 60+ countries show the vibrancy of their cultures in the form of celebration through dance, cultural stalls and more than a mile long colourful procession of thematic pageants of their national cultures.

Sports & Athletics:IKGPTU nurtures various teams for participation in Association of Indian Universities (AIU) championships and All India

ADMISSION PROCESS IN affiliated collegesSteps to be followed by Foreign Nationals/International students for Admission to courses in affiliated colleges of IKGPTU.

Steps & General Rules for Admission:

Students must read and understand the guidelines before starting the process.

Admission Schedule is made available at www.ptu.ac.in at the starting of each admission session generally in the month of April or May.

Foreign Nationals/International students have to first get an offer letter from the concerned

college wherein he/she desires to study.

Student in order to get an offer letter need to forward their educational transcripts to the

concerned College, if the name of the course already qualified by student is mentioned in AIU

handbook of equivalency, then the concerned College shall check eligibility of candidates from

AIU handbook and issue the offer letter to student.

If the name of that course qualified by candidate is not mentioned in AIU Handbook then the

student is required to get equivalency letter from their respective embassy in India.

If Embassy of the country is not available in India then student is required to get equivalency letter

from their respected board / Authority/ MOE in their country.

Then the College will send him/her an admission letter to obtain a visa for specific period (2 years,

3 years, and 4 years) as per the course duration.

At the time of reporting ( joining) at College it is mandatory for International students to get their

eligibility/qualifying Certificates verified with their originals.

The admission will be confirmed only on completion of verification process by IKG PTU.

Copy of Passport and Visa should be submitted by the student.

As per Government of India guidelines, an international student has to apply for FRRO with in first

14 days of his/her arrival in India. Student should ensure to submit a copy of FRRO certificate to

the college within stipulated time.
