Daily brushing and flossing are essential to prevent decay, bad breath and resist plaque formation which contributes to ''the long-term development of gum dis- ease. Here's how to do it right. BRUSHING. Use a soft bristle brush with a straight handle and flat brushing surface. Use a dentist-recommended toothpaste to help prevent tooth decay. Put the brush inside your teeth, with the tips pointed toward the gumline at a 45° angle. Use short back and forth strokes about a half tooth wide. Make several passes with a gentle vibrating motion before moving to the next area. FLOSSING. Wind about 18 inches of floss around one of your middle fin- gers. Wind the remaining floss around the same finger of your opposite hand. Hold floss tightly between thumbs and forefingers, with one inch of floss be- tween them. No slack. Gently saw be- tween your teeth. At the gumline, curve it into a C-shape against one tooth and slide it into the space between gum and tooth until you feel resistance. Doing it right can save you more problems than the dentist can. Presented as a public service to promote better dental health. From the office of JOHN B. MYRES, D.D.S., 700 S. BRUSHING-FLOSSING I can't stress this enough. Daily

brushing and flossing are essential to prevent decay, bad breath and resist plaque formation which contributes to

''the long-term development of gum dis- ease.

FLOSSING. Wind about 18 inches

of floss around one of your middle fin- gers.

McCarty Avenue, Eagle Lake, 234- 3525.
