The modern school was char- ged with inefficiency on three counts, that it failed to pre- pare’ ii pupil for life, that it fails to promote co-operation between home and school, par- ticularly in the matter of re- port cards and that it fails to develop habits of good discip- line and has contributed to the high rate of juvenile de- l inqu ency. In his prosecution, Mr. Fleet- wood called four witnessss and attempted to establish that the school could not give -pttpik I &FZ&&B~ .w&k h -wvx&d be useful later in life and that parents oould not understand the modern repoct-essi He also showed, through witnes- ses, that parental and sckool discipline do not go hand in nand, and that often this lack of co-operation makes it diffi- cult for both the parent and the pupil.
