The insulating gasket is constructed froma serrated metal core utilising Flexitallic’sunique ‘Shallow P’ profile. The metal core is faced with Thermiculite® 725; a highperformance, fire safe sealing materialincorporating Flexitallic’s proprietaryvermiculite based sealing material. Correct gasket location is ensured by the inclusion of a Thermiculite® 725 spacerring positioned around the periphery of the serrated metal core.

Service:Flexitallic I-Flex high temperature flangeinsulation sets are specifically designed to effect a seal and maintain electricalisolation across a wide range of seatingstresses and flange classes in elevatedtemperature service. They can be utilisedin load compromised connections; such asdamaged and/or lined flanges and alsoheavily bolted connections where significantgasket stresses may be generated. In addition the relatively high compressioncharacteristics of the facing materialsensure both seal and isolation performancecan be realised over a wide range of flangesurface finishes. The use of Thermiculite®725 as the sealing material pushes theperformance of the ‘high temperature’insulation set beyond the capability oftraditional insulation sets based on phenolicresin or glass/epoxy sealing technology.

Thermiculite® 725 facing material issuitable for sealing across a wide rangeof chemicals (pH 0-14) and sweet andsour gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons.

Gasket and washer metallurgy isselected to suit the particularapplication. Unless specified allmaterials are NACE (MRO175)compliant.

The insulating gasket and washers havebeen designed and developed for use instandard pipeline flanges where bothcathodic protection and high integritysealing is required at elevated servicetemperatures.
