: Atticus: Tom Robinson

Mr. Tom Robinson is my name,and accused of rape is apparently my game.

With Atticus havin’ no one to blame,

He just tryin’ to show I didn’t do no shame.Atticus only got some questions for me,

that ain’t so hard to understand, is it b?

Atticus Finch is who I am,and I hit the Maycomb courts with a bam.

Sticking up for Tom Robinson is what I do,

I hope I won’t leave him saying, boo hoo.Now all I need to do is ask him for some info.

And I hope he will not take it as some random TV show.

Now in the room the whites get all the good seats,

and the African Americans don’t get no treats.

They have to sit on another floor,Jus’ so there ain’t nothing to ignore.

With Jem and Scout comin’ in late,Reverend Sykes takes ‘em upstairs to watch and wait.

Jem and Scout got some seats right on the rail,because four kind people gave them up, like they were fo’ sale.

In their seats and ready to go,Tom got up and started sayin’ what he know.

I asked, "What really happened?"

And Tom answered wit out rappin’.

I said, "I was just walkin’ home from work and passed the Ewell house.

I saw Miss Mayella dressed up, but maybe not in a blouse.She asked me to come on in and do a chore,

And she said if I did, it would make her day fo’ shore.

So I went on in and she said to check out her door,

And all I said was there ain’t nothin’ wrong, what did you need me for?""She said, ‘Go fetch me that box on top of that shelf,

It should be pretty easy with your good health.’

So I got onto a chair and reached on up,

Then she grabbed me around the legs and I almost threw up.

Being so scared I jumped down,

And turned over the chair wit a frown."

Now getting all nervous, and very afraid,

I spat out the rest of the story, but with a fade."She sorta jumped on me and gave me a hug,

And wouldn’t let go like she was some kind of bug.

She then jumped up and kissed me on the face,And all I remember was runnin’ in some kind of chase."

"Bob Ewell was chasin’ me for a lil and was sayin’ he’d kill me,

I was just so scared and kept runnin’, you see?I wouldn’t stop for a sec’, and tried not to stumble,

‘Cause I knew if I got caught, I’d get in trouble.

So Atticus, to answer your question,

I didn’t rape Miss Mayella, and she better start confessin’."

Thank you Tom, I’ll do my job,Don’t you worry or start to sob.

So Judge, as you can see,

Tom is tellin’ the truth, don’t you agree?

Ight people that’s the end,

And it ends like some normal trend.

I end up gettin’ shot in jail,Only ‘cause I tried to hop the rail.
