From: Tim Copeland/ Rik Henson Subject: I-DEAS 8 M1.1 Overlay Patch and Printing Guide, NT and Unix

This document provides the patch for printing on I-DEAS 8M1 with the overlay. Also a general printing guide is provided to aid users in setting up and getting quality prints from I-DEAS.

The Problem

There are many reported problems with using printing for I-DEAS 8M1.1. This patch to the I-DEAS 8 M1 overlay release corrects the issue found where printing will error with a “flexlm error –5” if the measgraph utility was run prior to starting the SDI print server.

Solution Download the dll required for fixing this problem from the MTS web site and install it. To correct this you need to download the patch from www.mts.com/nvd/support.htm and load the file into your local ideas directory. For example you should replace the libMtsGraph.dll file in the %SDRC_INSTL%/ideas directory.

Known Issues

Ideas 8 releases prior to the M1 overlay will have additional problems not documented here.

• Center – Center for print setup does not work correctly, the print preview provided will appear to apply the center - center function but when printed the setting is not applied.

• Tiff graphics export does not work correctly for 300 dpi output. The graph will be completely

wrong. 72, 150, 600, and 720 DPI appear to work correctly.

• Print / Close does not work correctly. Two problems have been noted for print/close, the plot will not print at all when using this with graphics outputs, and also when a print/close is performed the next time print is selected from the file menu tdas will crash with an application error. The tdas crash is somewhat intermittent.

• EMF graphics export ignores the width and height settings, changes are not reflected in the output

file.

• CGM graphics export does not have an option to invert white objects on white background therefore using the cgm export then inserting the file into word will not appear correctly. This is the same problem that occurs when using picture file creation of a CGM file.

• CGM files imported into a word document will not be formatted correctly due to a problem with

word.

In office 97 the graphics filter registry setting would not allow importing CGM files unless the user atatempting this was a member of the administrator group. In office 2000 the same registry setting will cause the CGM import to be formatted incorrectly.

Registry setting: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Import\CGM Using regedt32 change the permission on the above key to allow all users full control (change from special access)
