APRIL – MAY 2005

The I-15 FasTrakTM Progress Report is prepared on a bi-monthly basis

and is regularly distributed with the I-15 Project Management Team

(PMT) agenda and notice. A copy of the Progress Report is published on

SANDAG’s I-15 PMT Web page.

The I-15 PMT meeting scheduled for July 21, 2005, was cancelled. This

report covers the period from April 2005 through May 2005.

1215 04/11/05 Monday 6:15am 3705 22 A patron notified the Customer Service Center (CSC) that a

trashcan was lying in the middle of the I-15 Express Lanes.

Response: The customer service representative (CSR)

thanked patron for alerting the CSC, and notified the

appropriate Caltrans staff at the Regional Transportation

Management Center (TMC), to have the debris removed.

1216 04/25/05 Monday 2:15pm 6659 12 Walk-in patron inquired whether I-15 FasTrak issues City

of San Diego's pre-paid parking meter debit cards, and

suggested the CSC should offer the electronic parking

meter cards so that all of the commuter's travel needs can

be handled at a single location.

Response: The CSR informed patron that parking meter

payment cards were not currently available at the CSC,

and thanked patron for her suggestion. The CSR assured

patron her comments would be forwarded to SANDAG for

further consideration. Information concerning purchase of

pre-paid parking meter debit cards for use throughout the

City of San Diego can be obtained from the City's website: http://www.sandiego.gov/parkingmanagement/enforcement/

cards.shtml

n/a 04/25/05 Monday n/a 6659 5 Patron suggested their should be more than one FasTrak

office location, and voiced a complaint that the system is

easy to use for free and there is little incentive to pay.

Response: The CSR explained vehicle code requirements

for proper mounting of the transponder, and informed

patron her comments would be forwarded to SANDAG for

further consideration.

1217 04/27/05 Wednesday 8:56 AM 1029 6 Patron complained about a traffic problem when driving

in the southbound direction, related to the construction

near the north end entrance to the Express Lanes. Patron

feels it has become more difficult to merge into the

FasTrak lanes since the construction started near SR-56/Ted

Williams Parkway.

Response: The CSR provided patron with Caltrans' I-15

Managed Lanes construction info-line (619-688-6939), and

assured patron his comment would be forwarded to

SANDAG and Caltrans for further consideration.

1218 05/02/05 Monday 11:10am 3705 22 Following an identity theft incident at the Orange County

FasTrak office of the Toll Roads http:www.thetollroads.com

a patron inquired with the CSC reagarding account

security and protection of patron privacy information in

the I-15 FasTrak system.

Response: The CSR assured patron the I-15 FasTrak

account management system is a secure system, and no

account information is at risk to Internet-based

information theft, because the system in not an online

system. Furthermore, all I-15 FasTrak transactions are

processed by trained personnel under a strictly password-

protected system.

1219 05/03/05 Tuesday 7:45am 6659 5 Patron notofied the CSC regarding a possible violation by

a single-occupant vehicle (SOV) using the Express Lanes.

Response: The CSR thanked patron for the information,

and forwarded the information to the California Highway

Patrol (CHP) for possible enforcement follow-up.

1220 05/06/05 Friday 2:41pm 3705 5 A patron contacted the CSC requesting identity and

contact information for another patron account, by

providing a transponder ID number. The information

patron was requesting was to help locate a potential

suspect in the recent theft of patron's vehicle. When the

stolen vehicle was recovered, the transponder in question

was found, which did not belong to patron.

Response: The CSR informed patron that it is in violation

of I-15 FasTrak customer policy to provide the requested

privacy information; however, that I-15 FasTrak would

gladly provide that information to the proper authorities.

1221 5/20/05 Friday 9:23am 6659 8 A patron thanked the CSR for efficient customer service.

1222 05/26/05 Thursday 8:33am n/a 12 A patron suggested that SANDAG consider incorporating

congested freeway on-ramps as part of the FasTrak pricing

system, so that SOV users willing to pay a premium would

be allowed to use HOV/diamond lanes at the on-ramps

and avoid lengthy delays.

Response: The suggestion was forwarded to SANDAG's

Transportation Planning Department for possible

consideration in the next update of the Regional

Transportation Plan (RTP), including any modeling of

future traffic networks.

1223 05/27/05 Friday 7:57am n/a 4 A patron expressed satisfaction in seeing a CHP patrol car

enforcing violations on the Express Lanes, noting this was

the first time patron witnessed a CHP vehicle in the HOV

lanes in a long time.

Response: SANDAG responded to patron indicating

increased enforcement levels were planned for the month

of May and June. Enforcement statistics were provided to

patron, and can be viewed online at www.sandag.org.
