Fasting blood sugar 70-100 mg/ml
2 hour Post Glucose < 140 mg/ml
What are normal blood sugar levels?
SYMPTOMS
Hypoglycemia often starts suddenly and so must be managed promptly
One should check sugar levels on glucometer as soon as he/she starts feeling above discussed symptoms
If reading is <70 mg/dl then take something sweet immediately and wait for 10-15 mins
After relaxation consult your doctor for the condition
If reading is in between 70-100 mg/dl and symptoms persists then take some food to eat and wait for 10-15 mins
After relaxation consult your doctor for the condition
If there is an emergency, or you are on the way, or driving and you can’t wait even for the checking then also take some sugar without checking your sugar
After relaxation consult your doctor immediately
Can lead to unconsciousness To tackle this do the following:
Apply the paste of honey in the mouth
SEVERE HYPOGLYCEMIA
Put a thick paste of glucose in the mouth and as soon as patient is awaken make him/her drink water so that glucose gets enter in the body
Always keep glucagon 1 mg injection at home to inject in such kind of emergencies. It is administered just like insulin.
Higher dose of insulin or medication and comparatively lesser food.
WHY hypoglycemia?
Follow a regular meal pattern of 3 major meal and 3 smaller meals.
Never be fasting more than 3-4 hours a day. Follow your doctor’s and dietician’s
instructions properly. Maintain a balance between your diet and
medication or insulin dose.
