50-pair Cross Connect Pane, 66 typeThe frst termination block used in telecommunication systems was a 66 type cross connect panel. Currently, it is popular in the telephone industry o the

USA. Its European analog is a Krone type cross connect panel.

The 66 type 50-pair cross connect panel consists o two parts the ront plate which contains contacts and mounting slots, and the wall mount bracket.

The cross connect panel is provided with 50 horizontal rows o contacts each consisting o our Y-shaped contact blades. Each row contains contacts grouped

into pairs and 3 4 which are connected to each other mechanically and electrically. However, the contacts may be independent as well as connected.

The horizontal or main cables are installed under the mounting rames or 66 type cross connect panels, then cables go out to the ront side through the

special openings in the mounting rames. When the cable outer jacket is stripped, the pairs are laid out according to the color markings and then inserted in

the corresponding slots in the sides o the panel. Laid and fxed, the conductors are terminated in the contact blades using a specifc termination tool.

The number o conductors must correspond to the number o contact blades.

The standard techniques o conductor layout (one per slot), creates high level o crosstalk or special category 5 cross connection panels. To meet the

requirements o high-speed technologies, the pairs are installed in the slots twisted. This method enables the pairs to remain twisted as close to the

termination points as possible.
