Installation of Hyperion Essbase and Planning – Prerequisites

Softwares : Windows 2003 Server (SP2) IIS - Server Windows Sql Server 2005 MS Office Hyperion Essbase and Planning S/W.

I.)INSTALLATION OF OPERATING SYSTEM :1) insert win2003 server CD and Boot from CD ( F12)2) Format Hardisk (QuickFormat)3) New Installation – 4) After installation of O.S right click on taskbar > Properties > Classic Menu.

I.1)Install IIS Server –

Insert the Win2003 CD and select 3rd option > install optional windows components


Select Application Server and then details option

Select ASP.NET and IIS options

Click OK and Next

Goto Start > Settings>Control Panel >Add/ Remove Programs>Add/Remove Components >



I.2) Allow ASP.netGoto Start>Programs> Admin Tools > IIS manager > WebServiceExtn.>Select Allow ASP.net, ASP,Internet Data Connector, Server Side Includes,WebDAV


I.3 ) Install MS-Office Suite

1.4) Create an Admin user in WINDOWS ServerGoto > My Computer > R.Click > manage > Local Users and Groups


Add to Windows Administrator group>>



Click on Add > enter admin In the box > Click on Check names > click` OK > Clcik Apply > Clcik OK


II.) INSTALLING DATABASE SERVER – SQL SERVER 2005:

Insert CD > Click MS SQLSERVER2005 > Folder 1 > Click Setup

Select the following Products


Select Default INSTANCE


Or


Clcik next until u get to the below screen>


Click finish and reebot the system after installing SP2


*** Install the SQL Server SP2 Patch : Select all DEFAULT options and click next till it installs



Select the options to the LHS-

Click OK – Installation of Sql Server is complete – Restart the System

USER Creation: Create a USER in SQL SERVER w/ SQL Server Authentication and Password



III). Create 3 Databases for ESSBASE (name ESSSYS) and Planning Database(Name:PLASYS) and for Reporting database(Name: REPSYS)


Enter Database name as ESSSYS and Enter admin in Textbox and click on Check names buttonIt will enclose admin in parenthesis > Click ok


Check ::

In Security > Logins > Select admin(Created in SqlServer) > R.Click > User Mapping > make sure admin has dbo privileges on ESSSYS


Assing DB-Owner privilege on ESSSYS for Windows Authenticated Admin as well


Similarly Create another 2 databases (PLASYS, REPSYS) and assign similar privileges to sql-admin and win-admin for these databases as shown in below 2 screens

After Installation – Open Sql Server Management Studio - Goto Start> Programs>Sqlserver2005.>Sql Server Management Studio

Goto Databases > Right Click> Create new database; Name – sysdba

III.1) Creation of Admin User : Go to SECURITY Folder > Logins > new Login > name : Admin

Actual Hyperion Products Installation Starts here ::

Install Licence Server :





Installation of Shared Services :Goto the Follwing Setup file and launch the installationI:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning\HYP9.3.1\shared service\V11229-01\setup.exe







Note : Check to see if Configuration is successful-


II ) Installation of Essbase Server(V11184-01) and Client (V11185-01)a) Essbase ServerI:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\esbase\server\V11184-01\setup.exe




(prerequisite before starting Config utility for Essbase)





b) now install Essbase Client – Setup.exegoto path: I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\esbase\client\V11185-01\setup.exe



Note : For Essbase Client there is no need to run post configuration utility.

III) Installation of EAS(Essbase Administration Services) – V11187-01Goto Path : I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\eas\V11187-01/setup.exe



Note : After installation completes to 100% it will prompt you to start Configuration Utility > Select it and Launch >Click Finish




Installation Ends successfully.

Note : To Check wheather Essbase is working properly or not we need to go to SERVICES > Start/restart the Services as shown below-Hyperion S9 Administration Services ATS5-Hyperion S9 BI+ Analytic Services 9.3.1 - hypservice

Start the Administration Services Console :Start > Programs > hyperion> Administration Services > Administration Services Console


Create Essbase Server as shown below


Create a Test Application



Then Check in the application list – the Test Application will be displayedGo to the following Shared Services URL : http://willsys49:58080/interop/index.jsp

Note : Expand Projects> Verify that Analytic Services is not available in Shared Services. You have to now manually push the analytic services Goto Essbase> and




Click YES > Click OK


File > Exit TO Exit From EAS Console ***

Register the hyperion CLIENT for Excel-Addin -


Note: Open Excel and check if you have got the Essbase Menu in the Menu bar.

Check in Shared Services availability of Analytic Server and Log-Off from Shared Services


Restart in Services : in this orderShared ServicesAdmin Services (ATS5)Analytic Services


IV) Planning installation Steps – V11239-01Goto the path and run SetupI:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\syste9.3\V11239-01\setup.exe




Note : System will prompt you to RESTART the Computer.

Start the Configuration Utility for Planning:





Select the Product Instance Registration option to Create Planning Instance




Create the Datasource Configuration for Planning –





Select No for additional. Configuration and click FINISH


Logon to Shared Services as an admin/password using URLhttp://localhost:58080/interop/index.jspor http://willsys49:58080/interop/index.jsp

* Note : Create a NTLM directory – for windows users


Click Add


Note : Add NTLM directory for the Search Order –


Note : You have to logg-off from the Shared Services and restart the shared services from the windows-SERVICES, in order to see the newly created NTLM directory in the User Directories Folder.


Note : now you can view the newly created directory NTLM


• After completing the installation log on to shared services grant the dimension editor and application create role to admin user.


*** Note: we are also providing the Provision- Appln Creator and Dimension Editor to Native and NTLM Admin Users.So that Both can create and manage the application tasks.Note : You have to provide Business Rules roles > Provisioning Manager and Interactive User to Admin if you want them to be able to create DATAFORM business rules in planning.


Before login to Planning Web, you need to start Planning ServerFrom the Windows Services > Hyperion S9 Planning –

Logon to Planning Web using URLhttp://localhost:8300/HyperionPlanning/AppWizard.jspusername : admin/password

Installation of Reporting Tools Server :v11207-01Goto path:I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\rep tools server\V11207-01\setup.exe

Note: We will start Configuration Utility after Installing UI Services and Reporting Tools Client.

Installation of UI Services : v11223-01

Goto path : I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\uis services\V11223-01\setup.exe





Installation of Reporting Tool Client: V11205-01Goto Path : I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\rep tools client\V11205-01\setup.exe





Installation of SQR Reporting: V11206-01Goto path: I:\ALL-HYPERION Software\essbase & planning 5k\sqr production rep\V11206-01\setup.exe




Now go to Configuration Utility to configure reporting Tools Server, Client, UI Services and SQR reporting.


Note: in above Screen we are configuring path for SQR reporting and repository string






Make Sure Everything is configured


Post Installation Tasks:

Restart the Computer after Configuring UtilityGo to Services and make sure all the services are started automatically

Setup below parameters in fr_global.properties file

Edit c:\hyperion\BIPLUS\lib\fr_global.properties2. Change UseEssbaseEDS=0 to UseEssbaseEDS=13. Uncomment (remove hash) EssbaseEDSServer=, and assign it your APS server hostname(i.e willsys49)

To enable the Analytic Provider Services Driver:1 Edit:c:\hyperion\BIPLUS\InstallableApps\config\WebAnalysis.propertiesset EESPlugInSupported property value to trueset EESServerName=<host_name>/aps/JAPI

2 Copy:<HYPERION_HOME>\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\9.3.1\lib\ess_japi.jar and<HYPERION_HOME>\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\9.3.1\lib\ess_es_server.jarinto the folder corresponding to Web Analysis classpath. For example: if WA is deployed onTomcat, copy these files into:<HYPERION_HOME>\deployments\Tomcat\5.0.28\WebAnalysis\webapps\WebAnalysis\WEB-INF\lib\


3 Re-start Web Analysis.

Native Directory Admin access provisions

INSTALL SMARTVIEW : Automatically installs Java Runtime Environment(jre)- required for running any hyperion applns and reporting from web

After installation of Smartview, it will add a menu Hyperion in MS-Office
