HyperStudy 12.0 Beta Internal Release Information March 8 th , 2012 HyperWorks 11SA120.0 includes two versions of HyperStudy: classic and next generation. Classic HyperStudy is the default version in the Start Menu and Applications pull-down menus of HyperWorks. Next generation HyperStudy is a “hidden” software. To start this version of HyperStudy standalone, please double click on hst_ng.exe that can be found under HyperWorks_installation_directory_path\hst\bin\win64\ for win64 machines. To start it from HyperWorks, please set environment variable HW_HST_EXE and point it to the HyperWorks_installation_directory_path\hst\bin\win64\hst_ng.exe before starting HyperMesh or HyperWorks Desktop. The next generation HyperStudy merges the strengths of the classic HyperStudy along with new simulation technology and dramatic efficiency gains for the interactive user experience. For experienced HyperStudy users, the transition is seamless, as the overall philosophy of the product remains the same. The tree-like structure guides you through the study process, and remains the heart of the easy-to-learn wizard approach to problem solving. In order to closely mimic the order a typical engineer goes through to evaluate a design, the steps you are prompted through have been refined. You are asked to identify inputs, identify outputs, and then specify what you want to learn about the design under investigation, like optimal values, trade-off options, or directional guidance. The entering, monitoring and reviewing of data has been simplified through the extensive use of powerful table views of the information. The tables provide easy to use features like sorting, cut and paste, and filtering which results in efficient oversight and understanding of the information. Saving the study definition from session to session continues to be facilitated with an open and portable .xml file. New in next generation HyperStudy, the “DataSet” for each approach will be stored in a self- contained and open relational database. This data encapsulation initiative will provide faster loading of studies and richer options to post process the data. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) of HyperStudy has been re-implemented with a new technology for a contemporary and clean look. The technology allows HyperStudy to be delivered on many hardware platforms. The re- implementation also focused on Human Machine Interface (HMI) considerations to make the overall interactive user experience as efficient as possible. The study folder structure has been updated for consistency and allows for easier automation. A directory view of the information is available from inside the application.

HyperStudy 12.0 Beta Internal Release InformationMarch 8th, 2012

HyperWorks 11SA120.0 includes two versions of HyperStudy: classic and next generation.

New in next generation HyperStudy, the “DataSet” for each approach will be stored in a self-contained and open relational database.

The re-implementation also focused on Human Machine Interface (HMI) considerations to make the overall interactive user experience as efficient as possible.

The study folder structure has been updated for consistency and allows for easier automation. A directory view of the information is available from inside the application.

The Approximations module has been replaced by a Fit Approach for consistency.
