HORIZON YOUTH PROGRAMS offers a wide variety of day-camps. Each camp provides a safe environment for children ages 5–14 to learn and grow, under the direct supervision of qualified, trained staff. To complement their day, children will receive individualized instruction, a daily snack, as well as participate in crafts, sports, games, and songs. Horizon is a non-profit organization that has been working with families for over 25 years. Today, HYP offers programs year round, which provide a safe environment for youth and are designed to develop the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each participant.

ABOUT OUR TRAVELING CAMPSAll campers are expected to understand and follow transportation rules. Drivers try to keep a consistent schedule of arrival and departure times. Times may vary per camp, per day. Each day drivers perform a pre-trip inspection of their assigned bus. Buses are routinely inspected by the California Highway Patrol; buses cannot be operated without a passed inspection.

ABOUT OUR CAMPS THAT INCLUDE SWIMMINGCampers must bring a towel, bathing suit, and sunscreen for some or all of the activities related to this camp. A proper change of clothes, hat, and backpack or beach bag are recommended. Campers may be required to take a swim test for this camp, with the exception of Kids Club. If your child does not pass they will not be able to participate in pool/ocean activities. Please be sure to indicate your child’s current swim ability on camper registration. Campers may wear sandals/flip-flops during water activities, but must have closed-toed shoes while on-campus.

ELEMENTARY LUNCH PROGRAMJust like Mom’s... without the hassle! Sign up to have a nutritionally balanced sack lunch provided for your child each day. HYP offers a lunch service with lunches made fresh daily. FEE: $40/SESSION | $20/WEEK (all sessions)

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTELEMENTARY CAMPER AGE POLICY In order to attend Horizon Youth Programs, your child’s Fifth (5) birthday must be before December 2, 2014.HYP JUNIOR CAMPER AGE POLICY In order to attend Horizon Youth Programs, your child must be enrolled in Kindergarten in the Fall of 2015.

TRANSFER & REFUND POLICYCAMP TRANSFER POLICY Parents may transfer from one camp to another within the same session if there is space available. If the transfer is completed at least two weeks prior to the session start date, there is no financial penalty. If the transfer is done after this period, a $25 late transfer charge will be applied.

CAMP REFUND POLICY All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. Children absent 3 or more days in a session due to illness or injury may receive a prorated credit or refund. Credit or refund requests must be submitted in writing for director approval within one week of the absence and must include a doctor’s note. Credit and refunds will not be issued for missed days due to a vacation. All camp fees are non-refundable one-week prior to the session start date. If we cancel a camp, you will receive a full refund or credit toward another HYP activity.

GENERAL INFORMATIONREGISTRATION PROCEDURE Register with our new active networking site! One time registration fee of $30 and $25 deposits per session are required in order to hold your child’s space in each camp.Registration will be live after April 6th, 2015. No registrations will be excepted in the HYP office before this date.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE Balances remaining after deposits will be due the MONDAY, one-week prior to the start of each camp. Check or cash payments may be paid in the HYP office, but allremaining balances can be paid online when registered online. RELEASE WAIVERS You will receive your camp confirmation along with any required release waivers via e-mail within two-weeks of registration. It is your responsibility to contact HYP if you do not receive the confirmation or the proper release waivers. Required release waivers are noted on inside camp descriptions.

SIGN IN & OUT POLICY Parents MUST sign their child IN and OUT each day. Only parents, or persons authorized in writing will be allowed to pick up a child. Photo ID is ALWAYS required.

LATE PICK-UP POLICY A $2 per minute late fee per child will be charged to the person picking up the child(ren).

SUNSCREEN Please be sure to send your child to camp with SPF-30 or higher with child’s name clearly marked. Sunscreen will be applied at least 3 times during the day. Your child’s sunscreen will be kept with the camp to ensure that it can be applied daily and is not lost or misplaced.

WACKY WEDNESDAY Every Wednesday campers may dress up as wacky as they can imagine in order to earn points for their camp. The camp with the most points at the end of the session will earn a special treat! The SECOND Wednesday of every session will have a specific theme to dress up to:

JUNIOR SOOCER (Ages 5-7)This camp is a great camp for the training of future soccer stars! Instruction will be given by a Horizon High School Coach. Each day campers will participate in a sports clinic atmosphere while learning the fundamentals of soccer, team playing, and proven techniques for the sport. The camp will end with a HYP Cup tournament. All skill levels are welcome! COST: $285

MOUNTAINEERING (Ages 8+)Ever dreamt of summiting the tallest mountain peak or scaling rocks like Spiderman? In this camp, campers will summit mountains (and big hills) via man-made trails, visit rock-climbing gyms, challenge their bodies and test their stamina. They’ll also learn the climbing techniques and the jargon to go along with it.COST: $310 [WAIVER NEEDED]

MUSICOLOGY (Ages 8+)The notes on a page of music are actually math ratios. If the math is wrong, the music will not sound good. Bad math equals bad music. The kids work math problems correlated to the musical themes, beat on drums, write music on the computer, and create, create, create. COST: $310

MINI PICASSOS (Ages 5-7)Are your kids ready to get their hands dirty with some paint? HYP’s first ever Mini Picassos camp is designed to help kids learn basic drawing and painting techniques. Come explore the world of charcoal, oil pastels, watercolors, and acrylics! Although you won’t see any cubism pieces, you will be able to see our campers work in our very own art show open house on Friday, June 26th. COST: $310

SESSION 1: OCEANOGRAPHY Every Wednesday = Water Day! (Weather Permitting) Please ensure your

SWIMMING MINNOWS (Ages 5-7)Campers will make a splash in this fun filled camp! Certified staff at South Clairemont Pool & Recreation Center will provide campers with swim lessons. Campers will be grouped according to their swimming ability and will receive a certificate showing the swimming level they have accomplished. This camp also offers free-swim time, games, songs, and crafts. *Goggles and Sunscreen required. These will be kept at HYP for the duration of the session.COST: $285 [WAIVER NEEDED]

GYMNASTICS (Ages 5-11)Campers will be learning various routines on the uneven bars, rings, balance beam, trampoline, and floor exercises at Victory Gymnastics. Please note: Leotards, t-shirts, shorts (without buttons, zippers, or snaps), and sweatpants are all considered appropriate clothing. Students must be barefoot during class so that they do not slip on the tumble track and balance beam surfaces.COST: $375 [WAIVER NEEDED]

OBSCURE SPORTS (Ages 8+)Most of you have played baseball, basketball, football, or soccer, but have you ever played tchoukball, pickleball, or stickball? Obscure Sports will be an action packed camp that will introduce some team games that the campers have probably never played or seen. Campers will want to petition for these sports to be played at the Olympics.COST: $285

SURFIN SAFARI (Ages 9+)The ultimate surf adventure! This will be an awesome experience at beautiful La Jolla Shores. Learn how to surf or improve your skills with Soul Surfing’s professional, fun and friendly team of instructors. Campers will learn beach and ocean awareness, water safety, and equipment care. All equipment will be provided. *Campers will be required to participate daily. *Campers will be returning at 4:00 each day.COST: $350 [WAIVER NEEDED]

TOP CHEF (Ages 8+)Give your camper the opportunity to boost their skills in the kitchen by learning how to whip up a variety of dishes which can be easily prepared at home. Children will develop confidence and independence while learning nutritional values, cooking & food preparation techniques. No need to pack a lunch for this delicious camp as children will be preparing their own lunch daily! The last day of camp, June 26th, features a family lunch served by your “Top Chef”.COST: $320

WET & WILD (Ages 8+)Cool off this summer with this outrageous camp! This camp combines all the fun of traditional activities in a water setting. Join us as we hit the beach, to swim, body board, slip n’ slide, and just get wet. Bathing suit, sunscreen, and a towel are a must for this wet and wild adventure. *Sessions highlights include: Midway Museum Tour, Exploring Different Beaches, Carmel Valley Pool, Aquatica & More.COST: $310 [WAIVER NEEDED]

LEGO® MANIA (Ages 5+)Lego Maniac’s will build cities, bridges, and motorized cars/planes and explore the many creative possibilities of engineering with the LEGO® system. With access to over 100,000 pieces of LEGO, your child will have the opportunity to build what they have only dreamed of with the support of our very own Lego Masters to guide them. Campers will learn the basics in LEGO engineering.COST: $310

LITTLE ADVENTURE (Ages 5-7)It’s time to explore! This action packed camp is full of activities, with a new adventure each day! Campers will go on field trips to various locations in San Diego*…your camper’s day will also be filled with fun songs, games, crafts, and sports. *Session highlights include: Urban Jungle, San Diego Zoo, Nickel City, & New Children’s Museum.COST: $310 [WAIVERS NEEDED]

TEAM SPIRIT (Ages 6+)This high energy camp offers a variety of movement activities, including: cheerleading, dance, and basic tumbling. This camp is great for all levels and abilities. This camp will be instructed by Jadah Queen, cheer coach for Horizon Christian Academy. Also included will be songs, cheers, games, arts & crafts, and more! Families are invited to a final performance the last day of camp as Team Spirit performs at the HYP Flag Football camp game on July 10th.COST: $285

WEIRD SCIENCE (Ages 6+)Have your parents told you not to make a mess? What about don’t play with your food? Well prepare to get dirty! Welcome to a camp where getting dirty and playing with your food is the name of the game. You’ll learn to make a geyser of mentos and Soda! Make a rocket with water and special ingredients! Create slime from everyday house hold ingredients! This is the camp to get your hands dirty and make a mess!COST: $300

ADVENTURE (Ages 8+)This action packed camp is full of activities, with a new adventure each day! Campers will go on field trips to various locations in San Diego*…your camper’s day will also be filled with fun songs, games, crafts, and sports. CERAMIC FUN (Ages 8+)Come get hands on with and complete beautiful, quality, ceramic pieces to bring home and display with pride. Campers will participate in a variety of projects with clay pieces and bisque & glaze painting. This fun camp is designed to unleash you camper’s own unique creativity. Instructed by Pam Giamanco.COST: $310

GAME ON! (Ages 8+)Game On will feature a variety of tournaments covering video games, board games, playground games, and game shows. Campers will be placed in teams which will accumulate points throughout the camp. Campers will enjoy having mini tournaments at Atlantis Laser Tag, Boomers, Nickel City, and more.COST: $310

FLAG FOOTBALL (Ages 8+)Each day campers will participate in a sports clinic atmosphere while learning the fundamentals of passing, running, receiving and more in this fun filled flag football camp. The will be instructed by Horizon football coach, Lamont Butler. Campers will be learning teamwork, individual skill development, and basic strategy of America’s most watched sport. The camp will end with an exciting HYP Bowl.COST: $285

(Ages 8+)MEDIA MADNESSMedia Madness is a camp that will allow the campers to either form their own TV newscast or show, make a movie, or make a music video. Campers could learn to write, star in, and film soap operas, news, comedies, documentaries and interviews. They could also learn how to make a movie with story boarding, rehearsing, and directing. Finally, campers could stage and style their own music video to their favorite songs! Choreography, fashion, and music collide for outrageous fun. The final product will make you scream due to Media Madness.COST: $310

SWIMMING DOLPHINS (Ages 8+)Campers will make a splash in this fun filled camp! Certified staff at Swanson Pool in Standley Park will provide campers with swim lessons. Campers will be grouped according to their swimming ability and will receive a certificate showing the swimming level they have accomplished. ANIMAL ADVENTURE (Ages 5+)For the true animal lover! In this camp, campers will go on field trips to help children learn about and interact with different animals. Children will learn about a variety of animals from Monkeys and Alligators to Butterflies and Seals! Highlights include The Safari Park, The Living Coast Discovery Center, San Diego Zoo, Birch Aquarium & more! COST: $310

From science projects and building activities to board game creations and more, be sure to pack your creativity with you everyday, and prepare to build!COST: $310

LITTLE ARTIST (Ages 8+)Get your drawing hands warmed up! HYP is ready to present a camp that helps kids learn basic drawing and painting techniques in a variety of mediums. Come explore the world of charcoal, oil pastels, watercolors, and acrylics, drawing subjects like cartoons, still-life’s, animals, and landscapes! Campers will also learn about many different artists, art styles, and periods of art. Sounds like a masterpiece.COST: $310

MAJOR LEAGUERS (Ages 8+)It’s time to play ball as campers learn what it takes to become a major leaguer. Each day Horizon varsity baseball coach, Seth Loh, will lead campers in participating in warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages in a fun and clinical atmosphere. On Wednesday, July 22nd campers will get to catch the Padres in action against the San Francisco Giants.* Campers will need their own glove each day. Cleats are optional, but please make sure your child wears tennis shoes to camp and brings the cleats to change into. **July 22nd Campers will return at 4:30PM.COST: $290

MUSICAL THEATRE (Ages 8+)Audition, rehearse, and entire show for an audience! This summer’s camp blockbuster will be “Peter Pan”. During the 2 weeks campers will learn some of the main elements of theater, rehearsal, design sets, practice choreography, poster making, make up and more. Campers will perform for friends and family on the last day of the session, July 24th.COST: $310

VOLLEYBALL (Ages 8+)BUMP, SET, SPIKE!! In this camp, your camper will learn the basic skills of volleyball from technique to playing in actual volleyball games! Not only will they learn the game, but they will learn the importance of working together in a team and working with others towards a common goal. After this camp, they should be well prepared for 2016’s Summer Olympics.COST: $285

WE FIT (Ages 8+)Designed for all fitness levels and abilities, We Fit campers will participate in various sports, games, and exercises as well as learn how our bodies work! This camp will encourage an active, healthy, lifestyle and love for fitness! Come join us in a camp that is sure to be a great fit for FUN!COST: $285

VELOCITY (Ages 9+)Velocity = High speed action! Campers will go full speed ahead during this action packed camp. Highlights will include Aquatica, Belmont Park, Vertical Hold Gym, and more! *Campers will need to participate in ALL activities in this camp. In Little Farmers, campers will tour many different types of farms in the greater San Diego area and learn how food is grown, what it takes to grow it, and learn where the food they eat comes from. They will go on greenhouse tours, pick their own veggies and make meals, garden, and go on hay rides! Kids will go bananas over this camp!COST: $310

MINOR LEAGUERS (Ages 5-7)Our brand new baseball camp, for the young ones who are working their way to the major leagues, is sure to be a grand slam. Campers will learn hitting techniques, proper ways to play catch, and will play in a lot of games. This camp will stress the concept of “It’s all about the team.” Campers will enjoy a tour of Petco Park and may even learn how to slide, especially on a waterslide. COST: $285

SMASH LAB (Ages 7+)How many different ways can you launch a water balloon? Can you hit a target? What if it’s moving? In Smash Lab teams will work together to build small and large structures that will be put to the ultimate target test. Teams will be scored and rewarded on how well the structure holds up, imagination and how close they get to targets. Some of the items that will be used in the Smash lab include; melon, eggs, whipped cream pies, water balloons, apples and many more. Send your kids with clothes they don’t mind getting messed up, because in Smash Lab everyone walks away happy and dirty!COST: $310

FAST BREAK (Ages 8+)Take to the hardwood this summer at Horizon Christian Academy’s specially equipped facilities, in this exciting basketball camp! Campers will participate in daily instruction, drills and, scrimmages, led by San Diego Section Division 1 champion coach, Vickie Carrington and her staff. Please be sure your child wears tennis shoes (not black soled). Parents are invited to come watch the last scrimmage game on Friday, August 7th.COST: $285

JAMMIN DANCE (Ages 8+)Campers will learn the latest dance moves with daily instruction from HCA’s head dance instructor, Gina Miller. Campers will be learning choreographed routines that will be performed for family and friends to watch on Friday, August 7th. *Please have your camper bring comfortable clothes and water bottle everyday. COST: $285

SOCCER (Ages 8+)This camp is great whether you are a soccer star or just a beginner. Instruction will be given by former Horizon Women’s Varsity Coach Matthew Chapman. Each day campers will participate in a sports clinic atmosphere while learning the fundamentals of soccer, team playing, and proven techniques for the sport. COST: $285

KARATE KIDS (Ages 6+)Get ready for some fun-filled, action-packed weeks of ninja activities with SwiftKick Martial Arts! This camp is designed to teach children self-confidence, respect, and personal discipline in a safe, positive environment. Children will learn a variety of martial arts skills such as balance coordination, and focus on-site at the HYP dojo! All skill levels are welcome! COST: $285 [WAIVER NEEDED]

SWIMMING MINNOWS (Ages 5-7)Campers will make a splash in this fun filled camp! Certified staff at South Clairemont Pool & Recreation Center will provide campers with swim lessons. Campers will be grouped according to their swimming ability and will receive a certificate showing the swimming level they have accomplished. STAR WARS (Ages 5+)Since Star Wars was introduced to the world back in the summer of ‘77, kids have embraced and expanded the saga beyond the movies. They have brought it into their homes by playing beloved characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo or Princess Leia. This camp is a one-stop shop to creating great kid-friendly content using the ever-expanding universe of Star Wars. With games, trivia, arts and crafts that will make campers’ summer of fun and friendship-building even more memorable.COST: $310

CLAYMATION (Ages 8+)Claymation is an art that has been around for years. Now, our campers can take part in the art that made Gumby famous. Each camper will create a story and storyline, build a backdrop and make a Claymation movie. WILD WARRIOR (Ages 9+)For all our competitive and energetic campers, this camp will provide an opportunity to create their own foam weaponry, utilize them, and hone their “warrior” skills! HYP JUNIOR is designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of kids who have completed preschool and will be entering Kindergarten or a Jr. K program. This camp will help your child’s transition from preschool to elementary school by incorporating some of the same protocols and routines as your child’s Preschool in a safe, fun, loving, and learning environment. This is a fun on-site camp designed for your pre-kindergarten children! They will participate in combined activities with Kids Club and explore different themes each week. Nap time is also a part of HYP Jr. Please make sure your child has a nap mat and blanket upon drop-off on the first day of camp.

VELOCITY (Ages 12+)Velocity = High speed action! Campers will go full speed ahead during this action packed camp. Highlights will include Atlantis Laser Tag, Surfing at the Wavehouse, Mr. Paintball, Padres game vs. the Oakland Athletics and more! *Campers will need to participate in ALL activities in this camp. Please make sure your camper is prepared to do this before registering them for this camp. *The Padres vs. Athletics game is on Tuesday, June 16th. FLAG FOOTBALL (Ages 12+)Players will be led by Horizon Varsity Football Coach, Lamont Butler, as they participate in a high school training camp atmosphere. Coach Butler will teach drills for gaining skills in passing, running, receiving and more at a competitive level. The players can expect to be competing at a fast tempo. Campers will be learning teamwork, individual skill development, and plays directly from our high school and flag football teams!COST: $285

VOLLEYBALL (Ages 12+)Bump, set, and spike your way into Summer! Players will be coached in a highly competitive sports clinic atmosphere by coaches of the Horizon Volleyball team. SOCCER (Ages 12+)This camp is great whether you are a soccer star or just a beginner. Instruction will be given by San Diego Division Five champion coach, Matthew Chapman, former head coach for Horizon girl’s soccer. Campers will end the summer with a dose of extreme ! *Campers will go to Six Flags Magic Mountain on Friday, August 21.
