The Business & Technology Centre ( ) is a well established enterprise and innovation centre providing flexible, quality facilities and business support to local businesses. The is managed by Wenta Innovation on behalf of Stevenage Borough Council.

The aims to provide a complete solution for aspiring innovators by offering advice and support, specialist training, access to finance and introductions to other knowledge-based companies and agencies. With these services and the high quality facilities within the building the enables its users to effectively showcase their businesses.

The is the primary innovation and technology centre in Hertfordshire. It promotes innovation and supports small and medium sized businesses, especially those from the knowledge-based sector; it also promotes enterprise in local schools and colleges and works closely with the University of Hertfordshire.

My Incubator is a business incubation centre offering advice, training, specialist surgeries, access to finance and workspace for entrepreneurs looking to start their own business. My Incubator at the was the first incubator to open supported by Stevenage Borough Council. It is now one of a network of six My Incubator enterprise hubs across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire helping to start-up successful businesses. What makes My Incubator so special is that to date businesses it has supported have a 93% survival rate after the first year of trading, well above the national average.

10.35 HRH to visit Stevenage Borough Council and Wenta Exhibit

Chris Pichon to present Andrew Hills – Senior Architect – Property and Estates from Stevenage Borough Council who will give a short presentation on the history and development of the since 1983; and Spencer Tagg – Wenta Director of Property Services, Abi Hall – Head of Marketing, Ros Beattie – Centre Manager and Donna Spicer – Centre Coordinator responsible for managing the .

10.45 HRH to visit Local Schools Enterprise Awareness Event

Chris Pichon to present Sharon Gaffney – Head of Education and Training who will explain the Beacon Events Programme. Sharon will be accompanied by Michael Niles, Hannah Pichon, Kelly Sapwell from Wenta’s Education Team and Richard Westergreen-Thorne from Stevenage Educational Trust.

30 students from 6 local schools will be taking part in the Beacon Event. The Royal party will see the students working in small groups planning an event for their school. The aim of the programme is to give students an introduction to project and enterprise management.

HRH will be invited to meet and ask questions of the students.

10.50 HRH to visit and formally open My Incubator

Chris Pichon to introduce Greg Thomas – Innovation Manager, who will explain how My Incubator supports new innovative businesses and introduce two My Incubator clients:

David Latta – Hylozo Technology, a specialist robotic company demonstrating a prototype robot actuator.

Chester Mojay-Sinclare – Charity Checkout, demonstrating new payment processing software for charities.

HRH to be invited by Chris Pichon to unveil a plaque commemorating the official opening of the My Incubator facility.

The Mayor of Stevenage will officially thank HRH for making the visit and opening the My Incubator facility.

11.00 HRH to visit local partner exhibits

Chris Pichon to present the following partner exhibits:

The University of Hertfordshire Julia Newlan – Pro-Vice Chancellor (Enterprise) with Tonia Harvey – Head of Enterprise, Greg McClarnon student entrepreneur and Ben Robins to present KASPAR the ground breaking child-like robot developed to help children with autism.

Institute of Engineering and Technology Tim Hamer – Director of Knowledge Management and Kate Berry – Corporate Marketing Manager with Robert Beahan – Media Relations Manager will present an energy-themed exhibition consisting of a model of a wind farm that highlights the issues involved with developing turbines.

Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst Emma Palmer-Foster – Strategic Communications Consultant and Sally Miles to present the UK’s first open innovation bio-science campus.

North Hertfordshire College Signe Sutherland – Principal and Pete Wheatley – Sabbatical President of NHC Students Union to present Xing, a project set up by the Students Union as a social enterprise. Xing’s core aim is to provide students with healthy drink options whilst giving students access to employment.

Fortrus (A tenant) Steve Livermore – Managing Director and colleagues Jon Atkin and Karen Hills to present the latest patented software developed to support patient medical record histories.

WallJAM Tim Worboys – proprietor of WallJAM, an innovative sports and fitness company to present the new prototype model of the rebound wall. Tim will be joined by Roald Bradstock who is an Olympic Athlete (’84 & ’88) and is now the 2012 Legacy Ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust’s 2012 Sports College Legacy Programme.

Astrium Patrick Wood – Chief Technical Officer and Bob Graham – Site Manager accompanied by colleagues Paul Meacham and Abby Huttie to demonstrate Bridget, the ExoMars Rover prototype showing its autonomous navigation capability.

11.30 HRH to depart the HRH signs the visitor’s book and departs the accompanied by Mrs Jane Wentworth-Stanley and Chris Pichon.
