The SingSpring Desalination Plant at Tuas clinched the Distinction Award for Desalination Plant of the Year. “We are very thrilled and honoured to receive these awards. This is international recognition of our project execution capabilities and desalination expertise in the global water market,” said Hyflux CEO Olivia Lum. Into its second year, the annual Global Water Awards is recognized as the most prestigious symbol of achievement in the global water industry. After an exciting year in 2005, Hyflux sawthe launch of its latest Annual Report withthe theme “Everyday Our Dreams GetBigger” as a refreshing concept to presentits achievements last year to theshareholders.

The cover featured a montage of peoplearound the world drinking and enjoyingwater. “Through the use of thoughtprovoking “big-picture” headlines, thisyear’s annual report paints Hyflux as acompany powered by aspiration,inspiration and determination,” said HyfluxSVP, Freddy Soon.

The report encapsulated Hyflux’s activitiesand accomplishments in 2005. It startedoff with the message to shareholders byHyflux CEO, Olivia Lum where shehighlighted the Group’s operations andmanagement achievement last year aswell as her vision for 2006, followed by afinancial review for 2005.

It also reviewed the Group’s operationswith a special feature on the successfuldelivery of its first desalination project inSingapore at Tuas. Together with thegroundbreaking of its largest overseasseawater desalination plant in Tianjin,China in the same year, these landmarkprojects made headlines news andattracted the world’s attention.

It was an eventful Sunday at the IMM mallin Jurong on April 2 as the ConsumerProducts Division of Hyflux, held a roadshow to promote its latest Gurgle F28faucet filter.

The road show attracted many families,couples and young children who wereeager and enthusiastic to know moreabout the Gurgle F28 and its benefits.

This was held in conjunction with the radiocampaign on Love 97.2FM which sawspecial guests’ appearances by Love 97.2FM popular radio personalities Chen Biyuand Dong Fang Billy. They entertainedthe audience with their usual wit and

played interactive games and activitieswith the audience. Hyflux’s memorabiliasuch as umbrellas and mugs weresnapped up quickly by the audience.

Many buyers were attracted to the sleekand simple design of Gurgle F28. “Thisis a much better alternative to the bulkyfilter I have in the kitchen, which is a sizeof a box and occupies some space on mykitchen top. The great thing is that GurgleF28 has three different modes to choosefrom. On Mar 1, Hyflux hosted the Israel NationalWater Company, Mekorot at theSingSpring Desalination Plant at Tuas.Chairman, Booky Oren and CEO RonenWolfman, together with the President ofIsrael Venture Association, Assaf Harel,and Anat Katz from the Israel Embassywere welcomed by Hyflux’s Group EVPFoo Hee Kiang and SVP Freddy Soon.Singapore’s national water agency, PUBalso hosted the guests alongside Hyflux.

During the tour of the plant, Mr Orenpraised Hyflux for the successfulcommissioning of such a large plant. “Asa local company, it is very impressive forHyflux to have achieved the project

financing and the construction and designof such scale. The SingSpring Plant is animpressive plant and we admire Hyflux’sachievement.”

“This is indeed a project milestone in theseawater desalination arena and this is atestimony to Hyflux’s commitment to thedevelopment of the water industry,” hecontinued.

“We are very privileged to have our Israelifriends visit us today. It is indeed a fruitfulvisit and we see this as a start to a longlasting cooperation, “said Mr Foo.

Mekorot - The Israel National Water

Company supplies some 1.3 billion m3 orwater per year to the country. It producesand supplies about two-thirds of the totalamount of water used in Israel and is incharge of wholesale supply of water tourban communities, industries andirrigation users. The company hasdeveloped Isarel's water supply systemson a nationwide scale since 1937.
