Hydro Construction Products has been providing world class water management products to Australia and New Zealand since 2003.

Hydro Covers has a product to suit any application or project requirement. Hydro Covers has products available in GMS, Ductile Iron and Composite Resin. Some of our available styles include concrete infill covers, solid covers, storm and sewer and multi part covers.

Hydro Covers have been successfully installed for hundreds of projects including Canberra Equestrian Centre, Sydney North West Rail Link, Darwin LNG Plant, and the Regional Rail Project Victoria.

Complementing our Hydro Covers range, Hydro’s product family extends to Hydro Drain, Stainless, Cablepit, Grates & Frames and Diamond Tools.

Key features of Hydro Covers include:

> Class Load Options: Available in either Class B or D (G on request).

> Variety: Ductile Iron Covers available with recessed top (concrete infill) or solid top.

> Load Transferring: Hydro Ductile Iron Covers are designed to sit inside a frame that is cast above the top of the polymer pit to restrict the load transferring.

> Match with Surrounds: Coloured Concrete, Aggregate or Bitumen can be poured into the cover to match the surroundings of the environment.

> Multiple Edge Options: For aesthetic purposes and to increase the cover‘s rebate to accomodate tiles or pavers, Hydro Ductile Iron Covers can include a brass or stainless steel decorative edge.

> Lockable: Recessed covers can be locked using a M8 thread bolt.

> Lifting Keys: Short and long handle keys are also available.

COMMUNICATIONS

Pit Marking Cover Identification The contents of an electrical pit are identified

by what markers are visible on the cover.

Covers are generally marked ‘Electrical’ or

‘Communications’, but can also be left blank

and have special markings, or plates with

company logos. All Ductile Iron Cast Iron

covers can have a brass plate engraved

with the markings secured to the cover.

There is no Australian Standard relating to Electrical Pit & Cover performance, although they are manufactured in accordance with the relevant industry requirements eg Main Roads, Energex etc. The type & size of the Pit and Cover that is selected varies depending on the location of the project, application and load rating requirements.

The table below is a guideline to assist specifiers, installers & users on what may be the appropriate product to use in their specific application depending on loadings outlined in AS3996 Standards (Road Gully & Inspection Chambers) and AS4198 Standards (precast concrete access chambers for sewerage applications).
