Mexico: Our new pressure control manufacturing plant in Veracruz,

Drilling contractors have called the Hydril GX® “the best

exceptional uptime. Its single packing unit has provided

continuous service for as long as a year, and it has

Redefining Rig Protection

Hydril diverters are known for significantly enhancing

safety and rig protection. The FS 21-500, in particular, is

fundamentally simplistic, designed to avoid the

functional complexities that increase the chance for

human error and equipment breakdown. With models

available for use with 49-1/2" and 60-1/2" rotary tables,

the FS 21-500 is readily adapted to fit virtually any rig

configuration. Moreover:

It closes on the open hole, eliminating a serious safety gap

caused by cartridge inserts.

Diverters: Gas Handler

Vent Shallow Gas Flows Safely

Hydril diverter systems are designed for strength and simplicity to

provide safe venting of shallow gas flows. Located below the telescopic

joint, the GH Gas Handler adds capabilities to standard diverter systems.

The GH is a specialized annular closing device installed as part of the

riser string for deepwater drilling. It allows the operator to circulate out

gas entrapped in the riser string without the requirement to vent mud and

or gas overboard. This product has quick response time, a low risk of

Diverters: Riser Fill-up Valve

The Ultimate in Riser Collapse Protection

The Hydril Riser Fill-Up Valve prevents collapse of the

subsea riser wall due to a sudden evacuation of drilling fluids

from the riser.

Sudden evacuations can occur during unplanned events such

as a disconnect of the LMRP or a failure in the lower riser

section.

The Hydril Riser Fill-Up Valve backfills the drilling riser with

seawater as heavier drilling fluid evacuates the riser from the

bottom. This prevents creation of a vacuum inside the riser

that would collapse it.

The Fill-Up Valve can be set to open automatically due to a

sudden pressure differential inside and outside the riser, or it

may be operated manually.

Diverters: Seal All Diverter Insert

The Seal-All Diverter Insert features a custom-designed

elastomeric cylinder to seal off irregular shapes in the well

bore.

Its smooth outer surface allows the diverter to achieve a

positive seal on multiple items, ensuring proper gas

diversion.

also reduces wear on auxiliary lines and will not slip on drill

Pulsation Dampeners: PASAFE

Maintenance-free for Demanding Applications

Hydril’s maintenance-free PASAFE pulsation dampeners

are well-suited for extreme operating temperatures and

pressures, as well as corrosive liquids. PASAFE units

are extremely effective at reducing pulsation created by

the stop and start motion of reciprocating pumps, as

well as acceleration-induced water hammer caused by

opening and closing the check valve pumps. Units are

available in cylindrical configuration for slurry

applications; gas cartridge version to address flow

variation and hammer; and flow-through design for

reverse-osmosis applications.

No gas precharging on any PASAFE model, for increased

safety and reliability.

Works across a large pressure range with no effect on

reduction of pulsation.

Valves: Drop-In Check Valves

Redefining Your Valve Reliability

Hydril’s Checkguard™ drop-in check valve is an

essential drilling tool that prevents return flow during a

kick. It can be used in most drilling situations where

return flow through the drill string is a risk and the

benefits of a full-bore sub are needed during normal

operation. It also can be installed only as needed: It

does not affect measurement-while-drilling tools and

permits retrieval of other through-string tools.

Checkguard valve installation significantly improves

and simplifies well control because of its innovative

design, which includes:

Hardened flow passages for resistance to erosion.

Wireline retrievability, which eliminates the need to trip the

drill string.

Positive closure. After traveling down the drill string, the

check valve lands on the landing sub sleeve and latches

positively into place.

Working pressure of 15,000 psi to match the highest

pressure BOP equipment.
