As powerful as your drive to get ahead, the Yaris also packs power in all the right places to keep you ahead of the curve, ahead of the crowd.

The 1.0 litre engine pushes out 51 kW at 6000 r/min while the 1.3 engine has an impressive 73 kW of power at 6000 r/min. The bottom line is an exhilarating drive. Electric power steering and a tight turning circle of 4.7 m, one of the smallest in its class, makes for nimble and responsive handling, while HSD models have a turning circle of 4.8 m.

The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)* delivers a smoother drive, creates improved fuel efficiency and achieves a level of quietness that ranks among the top in its class.

With HSD technology, the engine smartly switches between the electric motor and petrol engine. While at low speeds, such as during peak periods of traffic, the electric motor takes over for an extremely quiet drive, so no petrol is used. When a sudden burst of acceleration isneeded in over taking for instance, the power of the petrol engine combines with the power of the electric engine for a maximum surge of speed. Then, as speeds increase, the petrol engine operates alone. At cruising speed, the motion of the wheels recharges the electric motor battery. Braking too helps capture energy from the braking system to recharge the battery. The Yaris HSD engine pushes out 55 kW of power @ 4800 r/min and 111 Nm of torque @ 3600-4400 r/min, which results in an exhilarating drive.Get in and get ready to get ahead. Fast.

Innovative, sporty, bold and slick, the Yaris is not just about being on-trend, but setting them.

Every detail points to a forward-looking direction in style, from the 15" alloys on XS models. Colour-coded bumpers are standard on all models while colour-coded door handles, electrically-adjustable exterior mirrors, chrome front grille and back door garnish are all standard on XS models. The 1.5 XS and XR models have a hybrid type grille and chrome back door garnish.

All models have a high-mount LED rear stop lamp. Every model in the range also features rear fog lamps while the 1.5 XR has front fog lamps as well. The 1.5 XS and XR both have front and roof spoilers. The Yaris has just the right look-at-me-style that says you’re going places.

The Yaris 1.5 models also have a touch screen audio system, with 6 speakers for the 1.5 XS while the 1.5 XR has 8 speakers. The MID (Multi-Information Display) tells you everything you need to know at a glance: time, temperature, odometer reading and fuel-efficiency data. To keep you cool and collected, 1.0 and 1.3 litre XS models have a standard air conditioner while 1.5 XS and XR models come with an automatic air conditioning system with independent driver and front passenger controls. The 1.5 XR model has power windows all around while the XS models have front power windows. The 1.5 XR also has an automatic light control system, an electrochromatic rear view mirror and rain-sensing wipers.

A world first, the Yaris also features a wet-arm wiper system. This system delivers superior wiping performance and reduces obstacles in the field of vision since the water spray nozzle is built into the wiper arm and the wiper fluid is sprayed directly in the path of the blade from the base of the wiper arm. The Yaris comes equipped with ample storage spaces for valuables and the rear seat is retractable and can be split 60:40 to create more room for larger items. And always ready for anything, the glove box can be used as a cooling box. It all means ideal inner space that gives you a one-up.

Central locking

A background check will tell you that the features of the Yaris seriously factor-in safety and that adds up to fewer calculated risks for you and your passengers.

The Yaris comes equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), BAS (Brake Assist System), VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) with HAC (Hill Ascent Control)*. All Yaris 1.0 and 1.3 litre models also feature a BOS (Brake Override System) that prioritises braking action and suppresses engine output should the brake and accelerator be stepped on at the same time. The 1.5 XR models come with up to seven airbags for optimum safety. Driver and passenger front and side airbags come standard on all models.

Driver knee and curtain shield airbags come standard on 1.5 XR models. For added security, every Yaris is fitted with an immobiliser, remote control central locking and a follow-me-home light control system.

All 1.0 and 1.3 models also have a child restraint seat belt system and rear child protection locks. Without having to give a second’s thought to your safety and security, you can turn your full attention to what lies ahead.
