SWA provided full landscape design services for this

486-room resort hotel, which features extensive water

elements including 20,000 square feet of swimming

pools, 28 fountains, 47 waterfalls, a water slide, and a

beach. A series of grand spaces, classic forms, water

playgrounds, and six distinct garden courts contribute

to the creation of a southwestern desert oasis.

Multiple conservation efforts were integrated into

the site, including water features designed in the

Moorish tradition of narrow, shallow canals with low-

volume clear water jets and small gravity spouts that

create a major visual impact using a small volume of

water. Lawn was used only where needed to support

outdoor activities; otherwise all plant materials consist

of drought-tolerant desert species, including the desert

pine forest planting surrounding the parking and court

game areas.
