From Your Board of Trustees Wow, we are only six weeks away from the end of another school year and a change for our Year 8 students who start the transition to High School. For some this can be an exciting time, and for some it can be a challenging time. This is where we the school, the High School and parents/caregivers work together to ensure the transition happens as smoothly as possible. This is especially important as we move into this very busy and stressful time before Christmas! In June 2019 the Board of Trustee elections will be taking place. More information will be sent out early next year with information on how parents and community members can put themselves forward to be elected to the Board for 3 years. It is great from a Board’s point of view to see the extra activities our students and staff are involved in; we especially thank the staff for all the extra time and effort they put in to ensure our students have these varied opportunities at Hutt Intermediate. Some recent examples are: AIMS Games in Tauranga Raroa and Hutt Intermediate Sports Exchange Students taking part in Dance Splash Our TMNAK Group performing at Epuni School Students works displayed at both Art Splash and Walter Nash Centre Exhibition On the Board front we have been working closely with the Ministry and our property managers on getting the information together for the Hall upgrade or replacement and the re-roofing project. These two multi-million dollar projects, if approved, will eliminate the large number of buckets around the school when it rains! Another area the Board has been working with the Schools Leadership Team, is the wellbeing of staff and students. This was highlighted through the strategic focus groups at the start of the year and also forms part of the NZEI claim in the current contract negations with the Ministry.
