Thomas Hutchings, Tradition says he swam ashore from an English ship inNY harbor at the close or war with Holland ca 1680. Thomas Hutchings ofHampstead, Long Island taxed 11 Oct 1683 for 10 acres & three cows. Hewas a Quaker
