The shared plates proved popular and were a perfect compliment to the evening meal. Simon from Mercier’s Coee was kept busy serving coees and gelatos. Teachers who were 100% in aƩendance all commented they thoroughly enjoyed the evening, mingling informally with the school community and sharing a fun evening with the students in their class. Senior boys champion Oscar Svennson

The senior boys relay, consis ng of Hayden Fuller, Oscar Svennson, Taj Malmborg and Liam Bot broke a longstanding record.

Taj Malmborg broke a record in the 50m breastroke, which had stood since 1994

However, it was the team effort and spirit that really shone throughout the day. Efforts by all our swimmers ensured Huskisson Public School for the first  me ever were 2018 champions.

Jeff Ward Principal and Colleague

It is with great sadness that I announce the recently re red Principal of Sanctuary Point Public School Jeff Ward passed away suddenly on Tuesday. Jeff was a friend, colleague and mentor to all Principals in the Bay and Basin Learning Community. He was greatly admired by his school community and the broader educa on community. A er 39 years of service to Public Educa on, Jeff just 4 weeks ago re red at 60 to enjoy his next phase in life. He had  travel plans and grand children to enjoy. Sadly and cruelly he has been denied this well earned privilege.

On behalf of the school community of Huskisson Public School, our sincerest condolences to Jeff’s wife Ann and his children and extended family.

Library News

What a big week and weekend for our library

learners.  First of all, a gigan c thanks goes to all

the families who par cipated in the Seaside Scav‐

enge on Saturday.  It was a tremendous success

with 90 kilograms of rubbish collected and 98 kilo‐

grams of recyclables.  Our very own Marley

Hutchence from 1 Tapalla won the Take 3 for the

Sea guessing compe on and received his prize at

morning assembly on Tuesday.  It is so wonderful

to see our students taking ac on for a be er envi‐

ronment.

“We should start a zoo in the library” said one keen

learner this week.  This was said in jest however, it

is not far from the truth!  Over the past week we

have been hos ng a bunch of insects including

many species of spiders, a tank of jellyfish and

some snake….skins!

It has been very re‐

warding seeing the

excitement gener‐

ated amongst the

students as each

new creature is in‐

troduced! Keep the

learning alive and

keep searching for

those interes ng

creatures!
