important issues that will be discussed at the meeting and property owner and resident input will be crucial!

Neighborhood WatchThere have been a number of attempted break ins and suspicious

activity reported in recent months in our neighborhood and adjacent areas. Therefore, one important agenda item will be the need for a Neighborhood Watch. Hunter's Chase has had a neighborhood watch in the past, and we will be looking for volunteers to help resurrect this important tool in deterring crime.

Future of the Neighborhood NewsletterFor the past year, the Board has been looking into options to

enhance or replace the current printed newsletter. In June, Peel and Associates, our print publisher, notified the Board that in order to maintain the monthly mailings, the POA would need to assume some of the cost of the mail out. The board opted to end the relationship, with this month's newsletter being the last one that will be produced by Peel. The board held a special meeting in mid June to discuss options, which they will present to the POA at the annual meeting.

The Hunters Chase POA would like to thanks Peel for the years of service.

Annual Meeting Rescheduled for August

The Austin Police Department recently issued a public reminder, stating:

During the summer months there have been increase in vehicle and residential burglaries. Most residential burglaries occur during the daytime due to the majority of persons working daytime hours and no one being home. Also, many people go on vacations while leaving their home unwatched.

These are a few common-sense tips APD recommends that you can do to help lessen the chance of being a victim of crime.Auto Burglary Prevention:• Always lock your vehicle and take your keys—even in your own

driveway.• Never leave your car running and unattended.• Park in a well-lit area.• Take valuables with you—if you must leave valuables in your car,

keep them out of view.Home Burglary Prevention:• Keep your doors and windows locked when you are away.• Do not post vacation plans or photos on social media indicating

you are on vacation.• Burglars search for homes that appear to be unoccupied. A car in

the driveway, motion sensitive lights, interior lights and radios and TVs on timers all give the impression that someone is in the home.

• Notify a trusted neighbor to watch your home while you are away.• If you see suspicious activity, call 911 immediately.

The Pool is now officially open, seven days a week, until October 17, and it is only accessible to residents and property owners who have a pool key fob. Pool hours are: Adult Swim: 6am-9am; Open Swim: 9am-9pm. The Hunter's Chase Board recently adopted new policies and streamlined rules for the pool as follows:

Pool Monitors will be on site from 8-9pm daily to oversee closing of pool. Lifeguards will be on duty Friday-Sundays for all weekends, starting Memorial Day and ending Labor Day weekend as well as any holidays such as the Fourth of July.

The rules were rewritten to clarify owners and residents rights and abilities to help oversee and maintain proper usage of the pool.

Particularly important is Rule #4:4) Lifeguards, agents working for the POA and members of the Hunter's

Chase POA are empowered to enforce all Hunter's Chase POA policies, including but not limited to behavior policies or water safety violations.

Members of the Hunter's Chase POA refers to any property owner or resident of Hunter's Chase.

Agent refers to any person or persons hired by the POA to help maintain the amenity and includes but is not limited to: Lifeguards, Monitors, Janitors, Deed Enforcement Officer.

Not all medicine comes from your drug store. Sometimes it’s sitting in your local pound, complete with floppy ears and a fuzzy tail.

The health benefits of pets are gaining increasing attention. .Those who share their life and love with a pet get back a lot of rewards, says Dotti Bernhard, former chairperson of The Hearing Power of Animals in the city of Los Angeles.

Many of us already know about the digs that are trained to help people who have various disabilities. Even ordinary pets, however, can benefit people. They help bring a sense of purpose to our lives, caring about and providing for a living creature. They can also bring more concrete benefits. Bernhard, of Berkley Convalescent Hospitals, which contract with Kaiser Permanente to provide skilled nursing care, has developed a program that brings birds into the lives of nursing home residents. Residents prepare food and make toys for the birds. In addition, the presence of the birds motivates resident and encourages them to participate in physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions.

Pets have also been credited with reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, improving recovery from heart attacks, and decreasing doctor visits of older adults. Researchers suggest that pets may bring humor into our lives and offer companionship and affection.

Pets are Good for You An emergency is defined as an unforeseen combination of

circumstances or the resulting state that calls for immediate action. An emergency doesn’t necessarily mean a disaster. It could be as simple as a your child needing a copy of their birth certificate to register for school, or you may need a pink slip for your car when a brand new ride catches your eye, and of course it could mean much worse. If you don’t already have important papers together in a safe place, maybe this month is a good time to buy a small fireproof lockbox or safe and start gathering all of your important papers in one easy to access place.

Here are some of the things you should include in your lockbox: • Wills, social security card, passports, birth certificates,

divorce and custody decrees, immigration documents. • Property deeds, Mortgage Company address and phone

number, homeowners and life insurance policies and copies of health insurance card and phone numbers.

• Inoculation records, health records, doctors and dentists names, addresses and contact information.

• Auto ownership papers, auto insurance policies. • Credit Card numbers, records of outstanding and paid

loans. • Stock and securities certificates. • Hard copy of your resume, work history and past tax

records. • An extra copy of your address books.

Pretty simple stuff when you think about it. The value of having these documents put away in a safe, fireproof place will only be fully realized when you need to have them. If steps aren’t taken when they should be, it may be too late.

Are You Prepared For An Emergency?

Every responsible dog owner agrees that picking up after your dog is an absolute must. No matter where or when it occurs, there is no excuse for not scooping the poop. So here are 6 reasons why very dog owner must be responsible for picking up every time.• It’s common courtesy. This needs no further commentary. It’s

what’s right.• Dog Poop is unhealthy for other animals. Ever see your dog stick

its face into a big poop someone didn’t pick up? Yeah, no kisses for you, pooch.

• Dog Poop bio-degrades slowly and guess what? It does not help as fertilizer.

Please Clean Up After Fido• Dog Poop is unsightly and gross. Let’s face it, stepping into

someone’s dog poop is the worst thing ever. You have to wash your new Ferragamos, and who wants to do that? These shoes cost a fortune.

• Dog Poop makes all dog owners look bad. Don’t ruin this for the rest of us. We love having dogs, and cleaning up after them is just par for the course.

• Your actions set an example for others. When you pick up after your dog, you are part of the solution!Really folks, there is no reason why you should leave your dog’s

waste all over our neighborhood. Do what’s right, clean it up.
