WOW! Hard to believe this is our 5th sale. The decision to hold our own sale hasbeen one that we have never regretted. We enjoy having everyone come to theyard and see the bulls, their dams and the sires. It gives us an opportunity tospend time with our buyers and show case what we are trying to achieve—aconsistent pen of bulls with functionality and longevity built in. We are veryproud of the cows that produce these bulls and would love to show them to anyprospective buyer.

This past year has brought some ups and downs in the cattle industry BUT theoptimism we witnessed the last 2-3 years is still going strong. Charcross calvesare still topping the market and commanding a premium.

We are very excited with this year’s offering. From top to bottom, we have a veryconsistent group of bulls. We know they will work to produce top notch calves.The two year olds on offer are second to none. They are deep free moving bullsthat will cover a lot of ground and a lot of cows. Again this year’s bulls were fed aTMR to develop them with longevity and functionality in mind. We have workedwith Doug Allison, of Cargill Animal Feed and Nutrition, to develop the rations.

The bulls are available anytime for viewing before the sale. Coffee is always onand any excuse to stop work and visit is always welcome. Come early sale day toenjoy some hospitality and view the bulls as they will NOT be going through thering as we sell by video sale.

Welcome to the 5th Annual sale for the Hunterfamily. Their pen of bulls is the result of over 30years of building a program by the entire family.The quality top to bottom is very strong as theresult of having more numbers to choose from

and the quality of the cowherd and the bull battery they are using. Thereis something for everyone here from calving ease to big performance,from white to red factor. There are bulls that will work on whatever typeof cow you have. Let them help you find what will work best for you.There are some definite breeder bulls in the mix also that are worth thedrive to see. Their show string at the Manitoba Livestock Expo andCanadian Western Agribition were appreciated by all who looked at thecattle. Hunters are committed to agriculture and the cattle business andwill work with you to make sure you’re happy with the genetics you arebuying. They know what works in the commercial industry as they havecommercial cows themselves. As an added bonus this year they areoffering some very good Simmental X Red Angus open heifers that willfit into the top of most herds.

Health StatusBulls are done as calves with Pfizer Gold—BoviGold 5FP, One Shot,Ultrabac/Somnugen before going to pasture.They were boostered in the fall with the same vaccines andreboostered this spring with BoviGold 5FP, and Ultrachoice 8. Theyhave also been given an endectocide twice since last fall.The bulls have also been vaccinated against footrot with Fusogard.They have been done twice this spring but do require a booster beforebreeding season (especially if they are not used until later in the year.)

We used Ledger as an outcross on our heifers and a select group of cows in our herd andwe are ecstatic with the results. His calves came extremely easy with excellent vigour atbirth. They have grown well and continue to impress us with their natural muscling,docility and excellent structure. Ledger ranks in the 2nd percentile of breed for his BWEPD. It’s hard to miss his sons in the pen, they definitely have that “herdbull” presencearound them.

We continue to use Ultimate heavily in our herd and are loving the results! The Ultimatedaughters continue to impress us with their excellent udder conformation, mellowdispositions and their great mothering ability. Ultimate has sired a top notch set of bullsfor this year’s sale. They are consistent in their type and make, being extremely easyfleshing and soft bodied with thick hair coats. Ultimate is as sound as ever and keepsgetting it done here; we can’t wait to get more of his daughters into production.

Zeus is fast becoming Mr. Consistent here at Hunter Charolais. He is siring long bodied,stout made bulls that push down the scale. Zeus has flawless feet and leg structure and he isvery sound. We have begun to use Zeus on our Ultimate females and the results areawesome, look for lots more of this cross to come in future years.

Collateral’s dam was purchased out of the Best OfDixon Farms Online sale in 2011. We felt that thisfemale had some serious potential being out of oneDixon’s most successful females they campaigned onthe show road, the impressive DF Pure Gold daughter,Addictive 3S. Collateral is a super impressive individual displaying apile of thickness, an expressive hip and he has excellentlength of body. He had a very successful show careerthis fall, being named Reserve Grand Champion Bull atthe Brandon Ag-Ex and Senior Division Bull CalfChampion at Canadian Western Agribition. He is also apaternal brother to this year’s CWA Grand ChampionShorthorn Bull both being sired by JSF Top Hand. Hestands up on a big set of feet and is very sound. Commercial Open HeifersWe expanded our herd with a purchase of a group of commercial Red Angus Simmental heifers in the fall of2014 from Bary Sawchuk. We were super impressed with the job that these first calf heifers did on theircalves and have decided to offer for sale some of the replacements off of these females. They are sound easydoing females that will be sure to have great udders and milk well. On offer also are three tan replacementheifers out of Red Angus females sired by KCM Ultimate. We can’t say enough good things of what ourUltimate females are doing here. These females will sell in groups of three. We would like these females to bepicked up sale day or soon after. Delivery can be arranged also.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. Acertificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shippingarrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at thebuyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder afterbeing used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six

months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. Theseller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semencollected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductivetechniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damagecaused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no eventshall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither thesale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise,in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer andseller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for thetruth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied.
